Why are we slagging off `Planes` when we could be talking about how wonderful `Ratatouille` was?

"has to deal with the agony of going through a long movie render"
We`re just on the edge of being able to ray trace 1080p, in real time, inside the video card. Once it`s at the point where 10Kx10K, it`s on.

Until then, I would suggest using SSD`s as intermediate storage during render.

Planes isn`t a Pixar movie, luckily for Pixar. It bombed.

Planes was godawful when I saw it on a thumbdrive. Yet my kids ate it up.

What amazes me is that Planes was not a flop. Worst...Pixar...movie...ever. Still made $220M on a $50M budget.

lauriloo, i really don`t think they render it all in one straight go. I`m pretty sure they would render the scenes, then once the scenes are good, they add the clip into the actual movie bin.. Then edit the clips together from that.

As someone who has to deal with the agony of going through a long movie render only to find a small mistake in the final movie and having to redo it, I find those horrendous rendering times mind boggling. I would hate to be the person who has to decide to hit the "go" on one of those.
