The reason fossil evidence is found in Kenya is because that`s where archaeologists have been looking. If they were searching for fossil evidence in Ukraine or on the continental shelf, that`s where they would find it. There is far more to be found than they imagine and far more places to look than they care to try.

You would think there would have to be older footprints somewhere en route (that is, unless they arrived by boat).

TL, DR the whole thing. How in hell did the incoming tide destroy footprints in rock?!

Better question: how in hell do you MAKE footprints in rock? Well, first you make footprints in limestone sand (ground-up seashells). Then the sand hardens to form limestone rock. Then the rock sinks below sea level. Then the waves come in carrying suspended particles which, given 7500 years, can grind away the footprints.

@madduck: here`s your joke, stolen from the comments from The Independent website:

    *clears throat*
800,000 years ago...the last time somebody willingly travelled to Norfolk.

They were only passing through. Everyone knows that Norfolk inhabitants all have 6 toes on each foot.
