    For the non-Americans, who are probably scratching their heads over this:

    In the U.S., one of our more famous crackers (it has a buttery, salty, savory taste) is the Ritz cracker (see photo below). Thus, "Putin on the Ritz." Get it? Get it? No?

    *sighs* It`s always a bad sign when you have to explain a joke.

    Also, remember the Ritz commercials?

    "Everything`s better when it sits on a Ritz!"

    That and Fred Astaire equals this, I guess.

    @Broizfam: You know, I *do* remember those commercials. But until you mentioned it, I never before connected them with the "Puttin` On the Ritz" tune; it went over my head. I guess I was too young.

    Those Madison Avenue guys are smartypants, aren`t they? I like those old commercials more now that I understand the allusion.
