How To Properly Submit Content On I-A-B

Submitted by: ElectricEye 3 years ago Misc
I Am Bored is one of the few remaining websites that is solely driven by user submitted content. We want to put as much user submitted content up as possible. A few simple rules is all it takes to have your content submission approved.
1. Find your content.
2. Search I-A-B to make sure it has not been posted before.
Enter the title of the link or a keyword in the search box in the upper right corner of the I-A-B homepage.
3. Confirm that the link meets these criteria
Must be legal
No adult content
No personal home pages, blogs or forums
No online stores or corporate sites (unless it"s really interesting)
Must be of general interest to the web surfing community
NO POP-UP ADS!
4. Enter your name.
5. Enter the link URL.
6. Enter the title. Make sure that each word in the title has the first letter capitalised.
If it"s a picure, add "[Pic]" to the end of the title.
If it"s a picture with an HTML link embedded in it, add "[Pic+]" to the end of the title.
7. Add the description. Try and spend some time thinking up a good description. It is hard to do in under 120 characters.
8. Select a catagory.
9. Preview and test your submission.
10. Sit back and wait for your content to show up on I-A-B.
If it is interesting to you, it may be interesting to others as well.
I hope this clears up the recent problems we have been experiencing with user submitted titles.

So coding first letter capitalization to the submit form is out of IAB coders skills? That`s lame..

For searching: also try members` names who would hate the content.

Nothing against boobies on IAB, but I do miss some of the more family friendly stuff you used to see here that you could share with the kids.

The main reason IAB is a user-submitted site is to shield the site from legal liability, esp. copyright infringement.

I suspect some of the `members` are actually ghost accounts run by management.

No adult content, except for all the NSFW stuff that gets posted.

The search function here is... poor.
Try the main words, and similar ones too, and variations.

`Dog eating popcorn` video? Try Popcorn Dog and Dog Eating since the posted title might not be the same as the content.

No need for p0rn at IAB, the interwebs are full of it already.

Good for @ElectricEye for making the effort.

@Queenzira Am I to understand that your answer to me liking boobies will be to stick a lovely big sausage between some buns and then maybe put it in ur mouth shortly before shoving you middle finger where the sun doesn`t shine. If so, I`m in!!

As far as the post goes, it could be summed up as "Use the search to see if your content has been posted before so you don`t repost!! Ye great big eejit ye!!"

This is too long and inaccurate.

1) Scroll back about 10 pages and find something that was rated 3.0 or higher.

2) Submit it again. It will be approved.

This just in: If you like boobs, you are an immature little boy.
lol calm your tits.

1) Try working at work, employers appreciate that kind of thing
2) Try whining less

1. Make sure it got b00bz & 2. no dudez, see #1.

Seriously I`m sick of all the skin for all the little immature boys here, heck I`m sick of skin period. There are literally thousands of other places they can go to get their rocks off. I`m tired of having to skip whole pages on what used to be a decent site that`s now too off color for work. Oh & B4 any of the aforementioned little boys bitch and moan about it, I got your answer for you right here:

Gerry1of1-Define "adult content" `cause I`m seeing a lot of soft core stuff on here lately

Lol, and usually by the mods

@SethDog
We`ve been asking that same question for years, literally. All I can figure is this site must be Demand Media`s "bastard step-child" and they simply refuse to spend a dime on it. Just my guess.

As for this new addition to the rules, apparently the mods have tired of reformatting our titles and are foisting that responsibility onto us. I sympathize with ElectricEye trying to deflect the true problems...

How do you check if something as been on before? If I find a 1930`s video of mad boomerang skills in Battersea how do I find out if it has been posted before?

I don`t know about anyone else, but I don`t have any access to the HTML part of the page. No adult content= no straight up porn (ie. penetration). There is an 18+ toggle.

That is great and everything, but why doesn`t someone fix up the code so that user input problems can be cleared up..

Side question What the heck doesn`t fall into the category of "No Adult Content"? Or are you specifically targeting porn?
