Anyone out there who feels squeamish about eating eggs, remember: you`re not eating a hen`s baby; you`re just eating her period.

Chickens are mindless creatures. They do not play. They do not frolic. They do not love. They eat, lay eggs, bread, and peck each other to death if you let them. They are nasty vermin that taste really good and give us eggs.

Stop imbibing them with soft, furry emotions they do not have. They are there for our use... now go have a nugget.

It`s sad that people think shock is the way to get people to take a stand. It`s also stupid to think that not supporting the industry can somehow save the chickens. These birds, as the article even states, are bread to be egg tanks. That means they are all going to suffer in some way. It is tragic but there is little we can do, other than causing the extinction of the domesticated chickens, to end it.

We are fully capable of ensuring they live a life with more freedom, but even then, according to this article, that will still have them live a life of misery.

So, I`ll keep with my enjoyment of eggs. But I`ll try and be conscious of where they come from, as I always am. Because knowing what produces your food, or what`s been added is your freaking job, not the governments.

As an added note, chickens are adorable, and I`ve always wanted one. Hopefully one day the same process to make an egg can be replicated in a lab.

For those who didn`t like the chick grinder video
Think about how fast that was. So fast it was painless! Very humane way to put them down.

And the juice from that machine is what nuggets are made from! nom nom nom

Love my poultry. We have a small flock of heritage breed birds (Pekins, to be exact)...the oldest is 7 1/2, healthy, happy & still laying. They make quite engaging pets.

in reference to a chicken: "incredibly sweet disposition and tremendous zest for life" clearly views chickens as pets and probably doesnt want to kill any animal for food.

I haven`t eaten a shop bought egg for about a year. we got half a dozen ex battery hens and they live out a nice peaceful life in our garden.

Before my missus went out and got them I swore blind there`d be no difference to the taste of the eggs that are shop bought, but there definitely is.. the yolks are lovely and rich. Obviously they`re fresher too...a lot of the time I`ll go and take an egg out of the henhouse that is still warm and have that one instead of one out of the basket in the kitchen.

"Chickens were only ever domesticated for one reason: to exploit them." This goes for all food that we eat in modern time. Not just Chickens, cows or pigs but also corn, carrots and apples.

I have hundreds of chickens on my farm and they all run free in pasture. We keep roosters and all of our eggs that are sold and eaten are fertilized .

Yes intensive egg production does eggsist. There are huge factory farms -- that also includes vegetables. If you want to find responsibly produced food it`s not that hard. If you want to be a vegetarian or vegan that`s your own choice but don`t spread misinformation.
