Andrew, Multiculturalism is NOT a bad idea. Polish , Italian, English, French, German blended well in USA. It`s only when one culture refuses to be with the others that the problem starts.

ya know, I`ve tried to write this 3 times and erased it `cause it might sound racist. I was trying to say why the Hispanic and Asian cultures are welcome, but to even refer to them specifically is "racist" in PC terms. There is just no way to win, not for anyone. If I include a race I`m "placating them" or I`m "excluding others".

So, let me just say, to hell with you all. I don`t care where you came from as long as you behave now. If that`s not PC enough for you go F yourself. {Those who know me know it`s the beer talking now {Friday is beer night}}

The 9th circuit is the most f*cked up district court in the USA. The SCOTUS has overruled more 9th circuit decisions than most any other district.

FredSpudman - It`s called the French and Indian war. American colonists and their British allies soundly defeat the French.

There`s also the Quasi war, although that was an undeclared war with an ambiguous outcome because it was only naval.

This is multiculturalism, guys.

US is 10 years ahead of Europe on this. Europeans, take note. It`s a bad idea.

White Power = Racism
Viva la Raza = Unique cultural experience.

Sorry, these colors don`t run, and they sure the hell don`t come down on our home soil so that a group of foreigners can celebrate a foreign holiday.

And yes, I called them foreigners because they have obviously failed to identify with their new homeland, adopt its symbols and identity, and its customs and culture. It`s okay if you want to celebrate your heritage, but do not expect us to lower our colors in our home country. This is still the U.S., not Mexico, last I checked.

@som-tam:
Not quite, the French did help massively and ended the war years before it would have otherwise. But it was the Americans who turned the tide of the war at the Battle of Bennington and also later at the 2nd battle of Saratoga and the surrender of General Burgoyne. It was only after we proved that we could win militarily with such victories that the Prussians, French, Dutch, and Spanish really began helping us. Not to mention we had a thriving privateer fleet of 1700 ships plus the 2300 privateer ships we captured from the British that routinely cut off supplies to the British.

Now I give all credit to the French as our main supporters yet we repaid that favor in WW2 when our troops came streaming into France chanting the name "Lafayette! Lafayette! Lafayette!" and drove Germany out of France.

som-tam - it was french financial support for us to buy ships and arms, not their military.

And overall in history the frogs have a pretty good win/loss ratio, but never let facts ruin a good laugh.

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexico`s defeat of the french army.... as if that were a big accomplishment.

This is idiotic on so many levels. For one, we have to take Christ out of Christmas and certainly out of the Public schools, oh gosh (not God), we`ll have none of that!, but when it comes to any other cultural activity I have to bend over backwards to accommodate. Are we truly equal or are we not? Which is it?

I`m not down on Drinko de Mayo, it`s a fun holiday. And the US can adopt it just like we did other foreign holidays, St. Patricks Day and Halloween. But Just because some mex-american kids might misbehave when other kids have a US flag is no reason to take away the rights of one.

The right to wave your mexican flag ends where my US flag begins.

If Mexico is such a wonderful slice of paradise, why are all those La Raza types here instead of there? And celebrating the Mexican army? LOL. That`s a joke.

Heard this on the news and it pissed me off.
One kids right to display the flag is taken away because other students might get violent. How about dealing with the violent kids instead of backing them up, empowering them.

Nah, this is California, you can`t offend a minority, it`s not allowed. Pick on the white kids, it`s allowed and frankly, they might as well get used to it.
