Seriously? Who could possibly be offended by this?

Great idea, Gerry, then you fail so hard in the application. Switching "Come Heckle Jesus" to "Come make fun of black people" isn`t even close, not the same sport, much less ballpark. First, heckle does NOT equal "make fun of", so you`re subtly changing the meaning there. Then second, how can you equate Jesus (an individual and a religious symbol) with "black people" (not a symbol, an entire race, with all that implies)?

Come Heckle Buddha
Come Heckle Moses
Come Heckle Krishna
Come Heckle Joe
Come Heckle Flying Spaghetti Monster

Does it matter which deluded cult you offend or would you ban all of those shows?

P. J. O`Rourke wrote a book entitled "Holidays in Hell: In Which Our Intrepid Reporter Travels to the World`s Worst Places and Asks, `What`s Funny About This?`" One of those places was Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker`s Heritage USA Christian theme park.

In an interview, he said he went down there ready to unload on all the drooling idiots forking over their hard-earned vacation dollars to a pair of unscrupulous hucksters. What he found, though, was a throng of truly desperate and pitiful people whom he described as "the walking emotionally wounded." He said he was starting to feel sorry for them till he thought about what they would say about him if they saw what he did on his vacation. That, he said, was when he decided to "lower the guns to deck level and load with grape!"

Hilarity ensues.

I`m a fag. I "get" the whole "I hate Christianity" thing. But while I think those superstitions are silly and primitive, other people take if very seriously so it`s kind of rude to make fun of it.

And rudeness is wrong. So, while I don`t like it, I will say don`t pick on them for their silly magic beliefs if it gives them comfort.

until tomorrow when I sober up and not so sentimental. Then it`s to `hell with the church!`

Argus Tuft, you already made a grand entrance some days ago.
No need for excuses for being sarcastic.

A small hug to reassure you.

@ Zack. Yes you`re right. I did forget to use the sarcasm typeface. My bad. My first post. Just wanted to make a grand entrance by throwing a hornets nest into the creche. Mwahaha.

Guess a group hug is out of the question?

That`s something we ALL should keep in mind @Gerry1!

For example:
"...throw something at a woman`s head..."
"...throw something at a negro`s head..."
"...throw something at a homosexual`s head..."

Not quite as `socially acceptable` that way, eh?

Yes, people are free to express their opinions about politics, religion and Justin Bieber...

...unlike in 2/3 of the world! Appreciate what you have, people, or it may be taken away.

@SmagBoy1 has apparently forgotten:
9/11
Iranian Revolution
Multiple invasion of Israel
Invasion of Iraq
Invasion of Afghanistan
War with Libya
`Red Line` in Syria
Boston Bombing
& etc.

Seriously guy? How bad is your memory?

I`m honestly surprised you had to ask that.

"In this case, change it to "Come make fun of black people". Would they allow that show? If the answer is yes then there`s no problem heckling Jesus."

Total bulls.hit.

Christian is a choice. Black in not a choice.

Making fun of what someone DOES is not the same as making fun of who someone IS.

I have no problem making fun of someone for liking Justin Bieber but I would never make fun of someone for being gay.

MelCervini

"notice there`s no "lets heckle Muhammad"... i wonder why?"

Jesus Christ. Because mohammed has f.uck all to do with western civilization for the most part.

Wanting a comedian in Australia to poke fun at Mohammed instead of Jesus is like wanting a political cartoonist in America to poke fun at Bujar Nishani instead of Barack Obama.

Do we have to answer this EXACT SAME QUESTION every time something on this site or in society makes fun of Christians or Judea-Christian god?

I can`t understand how this concept is so hard for you people.

MelCervini, we usually strike out and lampoon those forces that influence/affect us. In the Western World/Australia, etc., Islam doesn`t affect our laws, the spending of our tax dollars, the right/freedoms/privileges we have. But Christians (or those purporting to speak for Jeebus) most assuredly do.

Most people of the world today would heckle Jesus just like they did in roman times. Same people, same fleshly hang-ups.

When in doubt change a variable and if you think that it`s still okay, then it is okay the original way.

In this case, change it to "Come make fun of black people". Would they allow that show? If the answer is yes then there`s no problem heckling Jesus.

You decide.

People certainly have a right to be offended and to ask/petition for change. On the other hand, people also have the right to be offended by and ask for change regarding the teaching of Creationism/ID in public-funded schools, the writing of laws that limit the rights/benefits/privileges of people of certain genders/skin colors/sexual orientation, the writing of laws to make legal healthcare options/family planning available to any citizen, etc.
