That is absolutely horrible. What is with men throwing acid into women`s faces nowadays? It`s almost as if one guy did it and all the other scum took note.

I`ve heard of this in muslim countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan, but this is the first I`ve heard of it here.

Cowardly punk needs his balls dipped in acid.

I hope they get this guy, I really do. I cannot fathom how someone could do this. It takes a special kind of sadistic monster to do such a thing.

Usually these kind of attacks are the idea of a twisted SOB who has a problem with being rejected by women. I`ll be curious to see what the story is behind this incident when the perp is apprehended.

I am not excusing what he did, but the thing about stuff like this is that the victim is rarely innocent. Usually something has been done to provoke an attack, but it`s not always captured on camera or otherwise documented. Very rarely do people just get attacked for no reason at all, even for illegal ones such as robbery. Nearly every single time, they have done something to instigate the attack, or at least aggravate the situation.

Wow, piratefish, I don`t think you could have written anything more ridiculously stupid even if you were to scoop out your brain from your head first... let me guess, you think every murder victim, ever, had it coming, too?

I have had one of those days where you just mooch through the Internet , seeing great videos and horrible ones.
Piratefish you must be either having a bad day or your head is messed up pretty bad. What a drat tard comment to write.you need to study the effects this has on women. Stupid ass comments. The Internet is so full of hate that I despair at times. Are we really this drating stupid or is it just for effect? Hey ho. All the very best to you my fellow I.a.b`ers.

Wow, I`m the messed up one? Judging by several of your comments, I would say you`re the ones who need a sanity check.

I saw a video just a couple of days ago where three men were brutally beating another. It was horrible. Then I found out from someone familiar with he story that the person being beat was a serial child rapist and was suspected of killing a 13 year old boy whom he had repeatedly molested. And this not even close to the first time I have witnessed what, on the face of it, was shocking behavior that turned out to be very understandable.

For all we know, there could have been a long history leading up to this. The woman could have ripped him off or screwed him over in previous shady business dealings, she could have poisoned his dog, run over his child in a drunk driving incident 5 years ago. All I said is we have no idea what is going on from a 1 minute video clip, and several of you try to take my head off for it. And I`m the psycho.

Does anyone even bother reading what others post? How does saying that we have no idea what led up to this translate to me being insensitive to women, or not being right in the head? I simply stated that things are not always what they seem, and that usually, people don`t just randomly attack others for no reason at all. It is far more common when it is the result of an escalating situation, or was provoked or aggravated by one party. Don`t believe me? Ask a cop.

I have a naturally soft heart, but experience has taught me not to jump to conclusions. What I know about human nature tells me there was more than meets the eye, but I clearly stated right of the bat that I did not condone what the guy did (of course, that part got ignored). I simply raised the notion that she may have had a history with this guy - it might not have been "for no apparent reason".

    Wendypants:

I`m not sure you read my comment correctly, or maybe you were looking for something that wasn`t there to pick a fight. Read it again. Where do you get a basis for your accusation that I think everyone who is murdered deserves it? Using logic, explain to me where my comment suggests that I believe this?

Let me spell it out nice and simple, since you obviously were not able to understand what I said the first time: I DO NOT condone what he did. But, many times, people who are attacked are not always so innocent (ask a cop if you think I`m making this up). I am raising the possibility that perhaps there may be more to the story than what was caught on 1 minute of tape. Usually, people don`t just randomly through acid into a strangers face...something like that usually happens after a history of some kind, a history that most likely isn`t caught on 1 minute of video.

So how is that ridiculously stupid? Sounds pretty rational to me.

Kcorb: Thanks for posting the story. After having read it, my suspicions are confirmed. The police say the believe she was targeted, and the couple reported other suspicious activity. The attacker had accomplices. Obviously, this wasn`t the work of a lone nut job.

I don`t know what she did, but it is pretty obvious she did something bad enough to someone at some point that they are now going through considerable effort to attack her - with help from at least 2 others.

To me, that doesn`t sound like a random, unprovoked attack. But acid to the face is pretty unusual, and was enough to raise a question or two in my mind. Perhaps it was my five years as a police officer, but something just shouted that there was more to the story than what was captured on 1 minute of video. It will be interesting to see what investigators turn up. My guess? It`s drug related - not knowing her attacker is a pretty sure sign of organized criminal activity.

    @piratefish:
Don`t rub the stain, you`re only making it worse.
Trying to play the devil`s advocate, just made you look dumb, admit it. There is no way in hell that an act as throwing acid in someone`s face can be justified or understood, by hearing the other side of the argument.
If there was a history between these people, he should`ve went to the police but not this: violence is NEVER the answer.

@piratefish, I will concede the fact that maybe there is more to the story; I will definitely argue with you about `people don`t just randomly attack others for no reason at all` ... usually? Hard to back up that statement without a whole lot of information... it seems to happen a lot, these days. (Not necessarily with acid specifically, but think of all the shootings/bombings/etc. that have happened around the world!)
    However, Neoptolemos said it perfectly!!!

After reading the accompanying story that Kcorb posted, I say I was spot on. I was a police officer for 5 years and developed a sense for knowing when there was more than meets the eye. The story confirmed my suspicions with 3 points: 1) there was previous suspicious activity 2) the victim said she did not know her attacker, and 3) there were at least 2 accomplices. In my experience, these are tell tale signs that the attack is connected to illegal activity (most likely drugs) that the woman (and possibly her husband) were involved in. My hunch is that she ripped off the wrong people.

Read the story posted by Kcorb; it has all the usual elements. So, no, I don`t think the guy was going to go to the police with his beef. He was likely a lackey being used to carry out revenge for an illegal deal gone sour. If I am indeed correct, this is exactly the kind of thing one should expect if they choose that lifestyle. I would be interested in following the story.

Neoptolemus: Nope. Not playing Devil`s advocate. Merely speaking from experience and verifiable data. But please, don`t take my word for it. Ask any policeman who`s been on the job a few years and they`ll tell you that (aside from most domestic batteries) there are very few truly innocent victims - even in a lot of robberies (a significant number of robberies are related to drugs - a dealer gets robbed).

So, I stand by my original comment. I do not condone what the guy did, but I am pretty sure there is more than meets the eye in this situation. Experience has shown me that in situations like this one, the victim usually isn`t so innocent, and the story definitely seems to support my hunch.

Again - don`t take my word for it. Ask a cop about non domestic violence attacks - especially one where a total stranger engages in a conversation and then throws acid in a persons face. They`ll tell you basically the same thing I said.

Let`s not be so naive. Based on what I read, it is pretty likely the attack was in retaliation for a drug deal gone bad. When you rip-off criminals, they don`t call the police. Usually they shoot or stab you (or in this case, throw acid into your face).

If you want to engage in illegal activity, this is a very real risk you face. It happens frequently, and most people know nothing about it other than the fact someone was shot or stabbed. In most situations where there is no evidence that jealousy is involved, it is nearly always money or drugs that motivate seemingly random attacks. And something this elaborate has organized criminal activity written all over it. I can assure you, that is most likely the premise on which investigators on the case are working. Again, it will be very interesting to follow the story and learn what really led up to the attack. I`ll bet I am not far off the mark.
