That was about the dumbest amalgamation of stupidity on this subject that I`ve ever seen. I can`t help but think that even the blindest followers of "the faith" wouldn`t accept these awful arguments for Creation vs. Evolution. I have to believe, then, that this was made by an evolutionist to troll the Creationists.

    I laughed out loud at
"If the world is millions of years old why is it only 2008"

This stuff really illustrates how stupid you have to be to believe in religions. You have to purposely kill of brain cells before you can possible accept that JuJu as being real.

its amazing to me that anyone could even make such specious arguments against science.

if their god created the universe, did not their god create science and scientists?

    I think this is poe.

However, everyone of the arguments it cites are arguments I have seen Christians use. Review many of the arguments used by Ken Ham and sdfComfort, and you will see most of these in some form.

Besides the terrifying pictures of two conjoined animals. Yeah all of these can be proven, Yeah this is a troll video but isn`t particularly serious.

If you showed this to a deeply religious person they`d probably be retarded enough to believe some of this stuff.

I`m sure the christians think IAB will only post a video that shows them in a negative light. In the spirit of Equal Time I think IAB should post a video that makes christianity look smart.

Has anyone ever seen one of those? Does such an animal exist?

There is a zoo somewhere that will soon run out of giraffe-meat. This could be the answer to their problem; from what I remember at school, christians are quite fond of lions. (or was it the other way round?)

That was early Christian propaganda, not fact. Martyr stories were a very useful political tool for early Christians.

The only early example of actual persecution of Christians was a brief period only in Rome itself during the rule of Nero, and that`s not entirely reliable. There was a smear campaign against Nero, so it`s not at all clear which claims about him are true and which aren`t.

There`s also the last few years of the rule of Diocletian, which was a last-ditch attempt to prevent the Christian conquest of the Roman empire. That was early 4th century, long after the stories about Christians being thrown to the lions (there`s no evidence that ever happened).

poe. The Discovery Institute are collectively dumb but once their `questions` are so well known and easily disposed of they advise against using them. The bacterial flagellum, for example.

`Why are there still monkeys?` is high on their `Listen, we`re not getting away with this one anymore.` list.

    But I have a crocoduck T-shirt.

madduck, nice try but that showed good samaritans. There are atheists who`ve been good citizens as well.

I was looking for a video that show christianity itself looking smart. The concept of any religion that showed it as an intelligent thing to do.

    madduck,

Plantiga is certainly not stupid and I admit I have only skimmed his work, internet style, because he is so often presented, like de Chardin, as such a formidable intelect.

But you see his strong point as sophistry and apologetics. I would agree, based on my limited knowledge.

And of course he used to support ID and now supports guided evolution. So he has a touch of the stupid about him.

This is just circle jerk stuff, guys.

But to actually facilitate a serious discussion (because those are important to have, not circle jerks), I`ll say this: the most interesting evolutionary question I have is how monkeys came to live in both South America and Africa (they also live in South and East Asia).

There isn`t a clear answer among scientists to this question. The first answer they have is a raft of vegetation on which apparently more than one monkey surfed from Africa to South America. In reality, it would have to be more than two to avoid major interbreeding.

The other explanation is a land bridge from Africa to South America, even though no evidence of such exists. There is also no fossil evidence of monkeys in North America, so the Bering Strait is not be a viable option.

So, the most viable option is literally dozens of monkeys surfing on vegetation to colonize South America.

Surely Christians understand how dumb they sound, espousing they creation myth as truth. I never really believed that baloney

Realising how dumb blind faith, is the next step is to ignore all that cannot be proven wrong.

If it`s a book written by fallible and corruptible men, not gods, I had to cut down to the core beliefs, such as the 10 Commandments and the idea of a loving god and possibly a messiah who overruled or modified some commandments (eg. Sabbath).

But all that too is internally inconsistent. Not all the commandments seem sensible or relevant. Many agree that many aspects of the Messiah story are borrowed from other religions and legends.

Finally belief was reduced to a loving, omnipotent god.

Then one day someone dies and I started to question that final core element. The death was just a catalyst, but it opened my previously closed mind to *question* the existence of god.

At that moment my faith was entirely snuffed ou

What`s almost as stupid as this video is the fact that many of you seem to actually think this is a Christian video rather than a childish Atheist attempt to make Christians look foolish rather than hold an intelligent conversation. Yeah, there`s probably a few out there who would be dumb enough to believe this, but not most. You want Christians to be respectful, accepting, tolerant, then stop fanning the flames of nonsense like this video and its very obvious attempt to be demeaning toward Christians. You want to be left alone to believe (or not believe) as you choose, then for drat`s sake, let Christians do the same. Trying to make them look stupid is childish, and those who eat up this bullpoo should be ashamed. If you really think this is a Christian video or that this is how most Christians think, then you really don`t have any room to be calling them stupid. And in case you don`t know... I am NOT a Christian.

@Andrew115: Mangrove swamps are the prevailing theory. The currents can take matter from Africa and deposit it on SA, similar to how debris from fudgeushima is ending up on the west coast of NA.

I don`t see why mangrove swamps would be so hard to understand. With the information available, it makes the most sense.

Well Mangroves do make the most sense out of all the options, yes. But just imagine all of those monkey riding those mangroves for however amount of time across the ocean, could be weeks. It is amazing they would`ve survived. The main reason I think it`s plausible is because it only had to happen once in the span of millions of years.
