It should be treated as "fatty, you eat too much".

Also, you should have to get on a scale before you ever receive federal subsidies for your food and healthcare. You have to meet the people halfway to prove you`re serious about needing help.

i am fat. i am NOT diseased. my `condition` is no one`s fault but my own. and the only one who has the ability to change me is me. i am responsible for myself, no one else is.

now, isn`t refreshing to hear someone actually ADMITTING this instead of making excuses?

Hmm... yes, that`s a great idea! We can make it Step 1 of the application process. It will weed out half the applicants, thereby saving the tax payers money when it comes to Step 2... Drug test.

On top of which such moves invite more unjust government intrusions down the line simply by the very reasons outlined in this paper.

Calling it a disease just gives them an excuse to not do something about it. Virtually all of these things made to raise self esteem result in less effort made toward whatever it is.

The same is true about alcoholism, drug addiction, or any other behavior-based "disease." The only thing that weak-willed people want to hear is, "It`s not your fault." That way, they can continue to behave like spoiled children without having to feel responsible.

Of course, that`s also true for the vast majority of Democrats.

I wonder sometimes why I read the comments on this site. Bunch of judgmental prickss, the lot of ya.
It`s so easy to sit back and judge when it isn`t your problem. Then again the internet makes it easy to act so inhumane.
FYI i`m not fat, or obese. I was. I had MAJOR back surgery and it changed my entire life. It took me years to adjust and completely alter my lifestyle to lose the weight I gained. I had no help and no one cared. They don`t really cover it during all the doctor visits or in therapy. I was judged as just another fat person. I finally hit a very low point in my life; I`ve gone from 270 (at that point I stopped getting on a scale) to 220. I`m 6` and fairly well muscled so its a pretty good weight for me.
I don`t post twice on any topic if I can help it and almost never respond so have at me. I don`t care. :)

9/10 fat people need a swift kick in the ass and some tough love. They don`t need to be made to feel all special and given a moniker like "I have a disease."

I know `cause I`m fatty fatso and the only problem I had was me. So I`m down 30 pounds in the last two months and won`t stop until that number is 50 and I`m around 5` 11" / 210.

It was my fault. MY FAULT! I didn`t have a disease, I drank too much and ate too much. So I made a decision to not be an idiot anymore.
