I was all set to give you credit for a reasoned comment till I got to your idiotic "it`s only 1 political party that wants to keep the electorate stupid" bit. Way to keep failin`, dude.

Draculya, just out of curiosity, how does limiting Asian students prevent Jews from going to Harvard? Very strange that you would throw that in there.

And as for powwowjj, hmmm... I was going to say that sounds rather deluded, but the more I think about it, the more I think you may be onto something. Only thing I would change is that it`s only 1 political party that wants to keep the electorate stupid, uneducated and beholden to them. Hint: that party starts with the letter `D`.

As for the Indonesians, yes, all dumb as a box of rocks and couldn`t care less. Mostly because the stupidest Bumis get free university over the hard-studying ethnic Chinese Indonesians. That`s where it quotas and `positive discrimination` takes you.

"hmm they obviously haven`t met many Singaporean school kids..."

I have. They were probably told to answer that they were happy.

I also know a lot of Koreans and can verify that their rating is appropriate. But it`s not entirely the fault of the teachers. Their senior students haze all brilliance and non-conformity out of the juniors.

Educational metrics favour people who do well at rote learning. That`s why (North) Asians to well. It`s also why Harvard has to limit Asian students by quota, or there`d be only Jews and Chinese.

As for the poor old Argies, they still haven`t figured out that the Falklands belong to Britain. LOL.

@ Powwow: Yowza--don`t stop now, you`re on a roll! Seriously, that was one of the most interesting comments I`ve read on here in a long time. Stick around, okay?

The USA knows what they are doing. They do not care about test scores in public schools. Why? The USA does not need millions of educated people. In fact it’s better for the economy to have uneducated people. They generally make poor life decisions that ultimately lead to spending that boosts the economy. In addition, there are millions of unskilled jobs that need to be filled. You don’t need an education to drag a 12 pack of toilet paper over a scanner at Walmart, but this job needs to be filled and there is way more jobs like this than there is not.
You might argue, well the USA is falling behind and will soon be overtaken by higher educated countries. Not true, because the people with the money and the drive will get educated and will fill the positions required to stay competitive. The Gov’t knows this and that`s why we see nothing being done. Is this right for the USA? Yes in an economic sense, but is it right morally?
