But come on!! Have some sympathy! Her religious friends might make *fun* of her - think how annoying that could be! Far better he pretend to be straight and marry some poor girl than embarrass his mother in front of her Christer friends!

I can see subsequent birthdays not being quite as memorable as the one with the placenta soup and the baby and all but damn.

How could you forget your child`s birthday? I mean, were you not there?

@gammapane

I know, right!! A lot of kids deal with parents who don`t approve of one thing or another, but to completely forget their birthday?? Doesn`t she remember that day of agonizing labour, pooping on the table in front of the doctors, and coming home with a screaming, tiny human worm-baby??

Obviously her anti-gay agenda is also cause for alarm. If I knew who she was, I`d offer her son my couch at least as an escape from his obviously insensitive mother.

McGovern, I`m not anti American, I`m anti religious idiots who are anti gay and think you can "pray it outta them".

i think we are all forgetting the real problem here. the mother forgot her sons birthday 3 years straight! no matter what church she belongs to she is still a horrible parent and an insensitive retard. the son should start packing his bags and his fudge and leave that house with a boner and a smile on his face.

Real story or no, the response was just. Someone who claims to follow Christ would approach this with love and compassion in all things and never with hate or anger. I`m not saying you have to agree or even like it. But it`s their life and their choices. Find a middle ground and move one with your own life, in peace.

Dear Amy slipped in this letter to build her readership fan-base. Sell some outrage and make a profit.

Although, many religious parents still send their kids to specials "pray away the gay" camps, or for "therapy". So it might be real.

Could be a troll. Could be real. Also could have been made up to give her a reason to print an opinion that was both very well stated and, as far as I`m concerned, quite appropriate.
