Once again people confuse not believing in God with believing there is no God.

Oooh- very nasty indeed... talk about leading questions. I am so thankful I live in a sane country... one whose queen is also the head of its own church- we leave religion where it belongs- in church.

student show good grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Also shows the ability to retain what is taught. Compare that to an inner city student or illegal alien who would have trouble putting their name at the top of the page, and I see no problem with this.

If there are any atheists out there with their panties in a bunch about the god references, get over it!

#25 is wrong. The reason any scientific theory is found to be incorrect is because new evidence is found, studied, recorded, peer reviewed and the theory is then revised.

This is truly disgusting. It`s incredible to me how cult-like the answers are. Just regurgitating the same crap over and over. This is not acceptable, especially not in this country, where religion is supposed to be removed from education.

I also agree that #25 is incorrect.

I do prefer this type of Christian over the Christian who indiscriminately attacks those who do not believe in the God he has created in his own mind. At least these arguments are logically consistent.

Reminds me of the Isaac Asimov story about the robot who believed that the Matter Converter he was designed to work on was an all-powerful God. So long as he does his job well and doesn`t hurt anybody, who cares what he believes?

Meh it`s not that bad, I mean it is clearly a direct attack on the scientific method but the list at the end is fairly true.
Science does not make value judgements - True (and rightly so, why do facts need value judgements?)
It cannot prove a universal negative. True and the burden of proof should be to prove the existence of something not the lack of existence.
It cannot give absolute answers was already commented on, it can but it accepts when it is wrong too.
It leaves unanswered questions...of course, only the incredibly naive would assume they could solve the universes riddles in one sentence....god did it.

I also like that this basically says the universe has physics, we must try to learn them. That`s pretty great. You are on the right track for the scientific method; even if it is clouded a little by your choice of magical universe orienting deity.
My big problem is changing experimentation to theorization in the scientific method, that`s just wrong.

#29 is incorrect. From the 3rd to the 18th century
the Bible has gone through MANY rewrites, ommissions and alterations. Compare the greek texts to the dead sea scrools to the King James version to see just how far the revisions have gone. Plus in many aspects the Bible is self contradictory one would only have to read the first 2 chapters to see several inconsistencies. If the Bible is absolute standard for law and morality then several acts that are almost univrsally accepted as abhorent would be perfectally acceptable such as the deffinition of women as property, Slave ownership, Marrage between women and rapist... etc.

Yes McGovern- she IS the head of the church too. But most of us don`t believe in God, quite a lot don`t believe in the Queen either... but we are very secular- it rude to talk about such things. If you ARE religious you keep it quiet - bad manners to god-bother.

@McGovern1981 "That`d be great if Atheists could do the same. I see that happening in about never."

Way to judge an entire group of people. Most Athiests I know never say a word because of the judgement they face. You are basically saying "why should I be quiet if they don`t have to" so not only are you incorrectly and wrongly grouping Athiests according to your OPINION but you are reverting to grade school tactics to base your argument on. Your parents must be proud.

Sorry everyone. I often don`t engage in the poo filled arguments that happen here but I wanted to be part of the "in crowd" for once.

what an individual wants to believe, wether it is true, idiocy or mere doctrin, thats up to them.

no one person should claim others need to believe what they do. No rule set should be based in any form of religion or philosophy other then the base humanist rules, or common law as it is often refered to. It is amazing how close asimovs 3 rules of robotic come down to that to be honest.
does chrisitanity state that? well, mostly, but then, so do most if not all religions and philosophys.
Do we need to tell one group of believers in XXX to stop believing that and believe ZZZ?

Well, if you believe the right to make up someone`s own mind, you kinda say you should not enforce the believe in something else. And, it seems that in the usa atheist are kinda the most vilified members of society. Which is weird in my humble opinion.

The problem about atheists staying quiet is this: we didn`t drating start it! Those spouting religious bullpoo dratnuttery are the ones trying to limit and take away rights based on religion, trying to spend tax dollars to forward their own religious principles, trying to impose their beliefs on ALL citizens. We are a secular country founded, willfully, on secular ideology. Religious folks should not have their right infringed upon, but they sure as drat shouldn`t be allowed to impose their beliefs on everyone.

i agree with that smagboy and the whole idea of any religion being used as bottomline for making laws cannot truly be a democracy. It is at heart a theocraty then.
But, we didnt start it so we fight back is still not a good argument. I am an atheist but i will defend a persons right as human to have their own religion, just as i will defend the basic right that no one religion should dictate how others should live their life. After all, if you believe in, oh, i dunno, lets say the spagetti monster, and that spagetti monsters demands you to dance naked in the rain when it rains, then by all means do that, as long as it doesnt hinder others..
BUT, if you claim i should dance naked in the rain cause your religion tells you too, i feel the urge to explain that it is not my religion.

this is true for a lot of religious based laws we see changing in most of the western world, yet somehow, the usa likes to be the most conservative out of the western world.

whodat: "The reason any scientific theory is found to be incorrect is because new evidence is found....."

It takes more than that. Most often it takes old scientists, with their preconceived ideas, to die in order for younger scientists to finally break through the "peer review" walls set in front of them. Any perceived "creationist" evidence is aggressively squashed, even when that evidence is misperceived as "creationist". If that evidence upsets the status quo of evolutionary theory, in any way, it`s banished.

1)Unless proven otherwise, there is only physical world.
2)Universal negative? That old religious nut nugget. Do we have to this again?
3)Value jugdments are subjective. Scienece is not a subjective being but a objective tool.
4)There are no absolute answers! That is the point of science and why aeverything is "just a theory".
5)"leaves a lot of unanswered questions"??? Life and the universe are not a pop quiz in school!!! Humans use science to understand this world. If we had all the answers and all of them were absolute...there would be no need for science.

Poor kids. Have to be subjected into this fearfull view of the world. "Oh, the universe scare me. There must be a god with all and definite answers to calm me down."
    Grow up!
