You`d make a final decision on `probably`?

I don`t understand how people can cast off a baby so nonchalantly. No it doesn`t have much of a chance, so the odds are against we just trash it? It`s a horrid situation, but the mom will not be any more or less brain dead after the birth. 1 in a million chance? Give the kid a break.

The Texas Advance Directives Act reads: "A person may not withdraw or withhold life-sustaining treatment from a pregnant patient."

However, this patient is neither terminally nor irreversibly ill. Under Texas law, this patient is legally dead so the Texas Advance Directives Act does NOT apply.

This is just another case of texans [LCI] being dicks.

America`s version of Sharia Law and the stupid Christians don`t even realize their hypocrisy as they are implementing it.

Oh dear God that is horrible. I can understand doing this if she was nearly full term when she died- but this is monstrous..

They`ll deliver a severely retarded child along with a bill for services rendered.

@ etta, I don`t give the baby much of a chance, but it deserves that 1 in a 100 chance. Ultrasound and other tests will tell long before term if the baby is moving or has function. He or she deserves that chance.
its a terrible tragedy all around, but they`re both probably dead, not just her, and keeping them artificially `alive` is obscene.
If at 14 weeks the fetus is dead, it will never grow to reach full term. If the fetus is alive, it is not by artificial means, it is because it is still growing and receiving what it needs from the mother`s body. But you did use the term probably, the father also said something similar. If there is a chance that this child will come out of this unscathed, isn`t it worth giving it that chance?

gerry, she was reportedly without oxygen for 30 minutes, which means so was her fetus. what kind of chance do you think that gives that poor kid? its a terrible tragedy all around, but they`re both probably dead, not just her, and keeping them artificially `alive` is obscene.

The mother is dead. If the baby has a chance at life it deserves that chance. Ultrasound can tell if it is growing, thriving.

I`m sure when she said she didn`t want kept alive on life support, no one asked "but if you are pregnant would you like your baby killed with you?" Most mothers to be would want the baby to live.
