Link: Simulation Back Theory That Universe Is A Hologram - Just coz I suggested the link doesn`t mean I understand it.

Will this provide for an easier way to win the lottery?

I think it`s an interpretive thing. There is a lot of evidence showing that the Universe exists because it is observed. So basically, if a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, it most certainly doesn`t make a sound. In fact, it may not even have happened at all (to be broad with it).

I think the "hologram" theory is just an expression of this same phenomenon. Lack of substance in an unmeasured area.

To be clear, they aren`t referring to it as an actual hologram, rather, they are using it as a way to explain some unanswered questions in string theory. Kind of how your TV shows a 3D object in a 2D space, they have managed to fit the 10 dimensional calculations needed in parts of string theory into the single dimension needed by string theory for other math calculations, because strings are one-dimensional objects. So they are just putting one "representation" of these 10 dimensions into one dimension, kind of like a TV.

So we landed on a Hologram of the moon? And how exactly does that holographic moon cause our tides?

What`s really cool is no matter whether it is right or wrong, they are coming up with some really cool stuff.
For all we know our world could be a representation of our molecules. We are a collection of cells and organisms, maybe this is how they work together.

This man says that people who believe in a God are crazy.

MrPeabody: Quantum physics is -very- couterintuitive, it doesn`t come natural to our brains at all to think in those lines and may be hard to accept because of that.

patchouly: Broad? It`s so broad that I can`t even think of an analogy that completely covers it without resorting to "your mom" jokes.

Gerry1of1: That`s actually something else entirely, the Simulation Hypothesis. Also, your choice of gif bothers me since some of the symbols are scrolling upwards.

The big difference is, I am providing theories, based on scientific evidence. I have several and am not married to any one as fact. More as a way of providing interesting information. People who believe in God base their lives around it. It is their whole belief system and it dictates their behaviour.

My theories are based on scientific evidence and, should further information become available, can easily change. God people still cling to it even though it is proven as false. They refuse to look at it subjectively and in lieu of proof, cite "faith".

My theories are a path to understanding. They are an ever changing learning experience. Religion is a 2000 year old fairy tale that causes evil and corruption around the globe. That`s the difference.

If a tree falls in the woods according to the laws of physics it generates sound waves weather or not anything can hear it. Your theory is invalid.

No not all of them do that either. Your theory is invalid.
