No, screw you, good sir. If I want to wish you a Merry Christmas because I celebrate Christmas I will do so. In return you are free to wish me a Blessed Ramadan, Happy Hanukkah, or whatever holiday you celebrate and I will accept it as a gesture of kindness. Do not push your insane belief system on me and I will not be goaded into explaining how science invalidates your entire faith.

@Kalimata: I was careful to say "I`ve never heard" because undoubtedly there`s idiots out there saying stuff like this too.

In USA and Canada? Sure: most Muslims would tell this guy to go fly a camel!
But in MANY Muslim Nations? There`s large % of people who are JUST like this guy. Nearly the majority in a few! That adds up to tens if not hundreds of MILLIONS who fall into the "Fundamentalist Muslim" category by their OWN choice! Not us "falsely labeling" them.

That`s why I say there`s NO "equivalence" between a couple of thousand "loony Christians" and a hundred million "fanatical Muslims" eh?

So yeah, in most places? Especially far from the Middle East? Most Muslims aren`t "lunatics". But far too many ARE.

@Kalimata "His argument is not the greeting, but the acceptance of the Christian god as being valid is the problem"

Ummm well, jews, christians and muslims all worship the same fictional character. All three worship the god of abraham from the OT. That`s why they are called the three abrahamic religions. The only real difference between the three religions is the direction they mumble. Jews mumble at a wall, the christians mumble to the ceiling, and muslims mumble to the floor. And DEATH to you if you mumble in the wrong direction.

*Much hated 2nd post in a row, sorry...

"...Christian-based cults, like Waco or Westboro, may say weird stuff, but only a tiny % of people agree with their idiocy, eh?

That`s the difference, there`s no "equivalence" here at all..."

I also believe that you are criticizing the vocal minority, not the practicing majority. (of Islam I mean) There is a vast wealth of Christian lunatics on the interwebs, as many as there are Islamic lunatic clerics. I`ve read many arguments here about how most Christians aren`t lunatics, perhaps most Muslims aren`t either.

@5cats "...No Christian I`ve EVER heard says that wishing someone a "Happy Hanukah" or "Blessed Ramadan" (or whatever) is worse than murder..."

I dunno dude, I think I disagree. His argument is not the greeting, but the acceptance of the Christian god as being valid is the problem. This is totally mirrored in the first of the 10 commandments, which is far above murder.

I`m being a bit of Shaitan`s advocate here, (see what I did there?) I think the dude is a loon myself, but since 911 being outright anti-Muslim is perfectly acceptable and I see all to often Islam and Muslims in general being mocked for something that is exactly the same in Christianity, like the video (imho)

The trouble with fundamentalists of any stripe is that they are generally right about the tenets of their belief. Moderates and modernisers have to brush a lot under the carpet and twist themselves out of shape to find ways to disregard or re-interpret some fairly clear nasty stuff.

What is the most important thing, not just in the world but in all eternity? Believing x.

What is the absolute worst thing you can do to someone? Encourage or enable them to believe not-x. Since their eternal souls are at stake it is technically worse than killing them.

I have a colleague with whom I car share (it`s a fifty mile round trip and petrol is very expensive) who is a evangelical christian and at first she made an effort to bring me to Jesus. I responded acerbically and she soon stopped.

But that means she will more readily see me burn in hell for eternity than to deal with a few acid put-downs. I`m offended.

@Kalimata: No Christian I`ve EVER heard says that wishing someone a "Happy Hanukah" or "Blessed Ramadan" (or whatever) is worse than murder.

This guy`s an extremist, but there`s a lot of Muslims who completely agree with him. Some go even further!

Christian-based cults, like Waco or Westboro, may say weird stuff, but only a tiny % of people agree with their idiocy, eh?

That`s the difference, there`s no "equivalence" here at all.

Ummm, doesn`t the first commandment of the Christian religion say exactly the same thing? Thou shalt have no other God but me. And isn`t it put above the adultery, murder, and coveting your neighbors ass?

Yeah I know, technically same god, but he`s being mocked for preaching exactly the same thing that the Christian 10 commandments say. If you`re a Christian, then you must believe and follow the 10 commandments right?

Poor guy. You`d be cranky too if all the women you knew didn`t bath, didn`t shave legs or arm pits, did douche and did not trim the bushy lady gardens.

Merry Christmas to him.

Oh Noes! It`s a repost! I knew it looked familiar.
Ack! You got me fair & square @DuckBoy87! (Lovely catgirl! Thanks!)

@tseimens: It is absolutely forbidden in Islam. Unless you`re going to `martyr yourself` the next day: then it`s OK because you`ll go straight to heaven anyways! (Not joking.)

"drinking alcohol is actually ok in the bible...."

But not in the Quran.

He`s wrong about one thing, though. The phrase, "Merry Christmas," isn`t an acknowledgement or endorsement of the Christian religion. True, the Christmas we celebrate today has a lot of Christianity in it, but there is also a very secular part of Christmas. Everyone can put up a tree, hang stockings by the chimney and wait for Santa Clause to give them presents. All of that has NOTHING to do with Christianity.

If you like celebrating a "Christian Christmas," good for you. Hope you enjoy it. Have fun. Worship away. I`m not trying to take that away from you. I`m just saying that there is another "half" to Christmas that everyone can enjoy, and saying Merry Christmas to someone can be used in a way to only acknowledge that half of it.

4. Saying Merry Christmas.

I`m okay with a tolerant society.
They use that to get in but will not tolerate any view but their own. And eventually they grow in numbers and take over. Kind of like
cockroaches.

Stamp`em out.

So, christians have the right to say Merry Christmas and people from other religions or atheists have the right not to say it.
So what`s the point?

"Congratulations on your false religion and congratulations on your false understanding of life..."

That`s what I say to everyone (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc) because they`re all being duped by their respective religions.

Mind blown.
I can`t even come up some point to joke about that he hasn`t shamed himself on.

He`s sitting there, spouting his non-sense, so sure that what he thinks and has been told is fact.
I bet he`s never even considered that anything a clergyman has said may be wrong or just plain BS.
