That game is gorgeous. Almost makes me want to start up my account again, almost, it`s just that it`s such a relentless grind.

I hear a lot of people say that, but i never really understood it.

I usually group up with some friends on TeamSpeak and go find a fight, and just have fun. I don`t see why it has to be about progressing and unlocking stuff you don`t really need anyway. We play for the sake of fun, and there are so many ways to have fun in this game!

Also, "the grind" isn`t that bad at all, considering it`s Free2Play.

It isn`t really a grind, since there`s little real progression in the game. Sure, if you want new weapons you can get them with certs, but you don`t really need them. Well, except maybe some anti-air rocket launcher options.

There`s no lasting gain and (at least when I quit) no point in defending something unless you need it to capture something else.

Me and my outfit spent six hours three days a week capping a continent per night only to have the opposing factions steamroll it as soon as we quit, and that got old really fast.

@Tiredofnicks: "no point". This is where you lost me. I honestly don`t understand what you mean when you say that there`s no point. It`s a first person shooter game. Counter-strike didn`t have a point either. Nor does Battlefield or CoD. You do it because it`s fun.

Planetside is like Battlefield on crack. It`s the only FPS i`ve ever played, where sometimes i`m so awestruck that i just have to stop and look for a while at the enormous battle going on around me. So what if the Vanu ghost cap everything during the night? More reason to kick some a$$ the next day.

Kain1: If you just want to hop in and blow some people up that`s fine, I can do that in all of the games you mentioned, Planetside included, but PS set itself apart by promising something bigger; complete battlefield domination, continent captures and even world captures.

To me it was that that lured me in, playing it like a real-time strategy game that you occasionally had to play as an FPS, but without some kind of permanence it just got frustrating to have to start over from scratch every evening, plus that the rewards for actually capping a continent was tiny compared to the effort required to do it.

To each their own. Like any great game, it can be played in whatever way one likes, I particularily enjoyed Galaxy Sumo.
