Here`s what we think you should make. If you make less than this, complain.

It`s sad that the top folks are making more than they could ever spend and paying their employees less then they can live on. Greedy bastards are what make "trickle down economics" such a laughable concept. Build from the ground up, I say. Screw the bastards that horde the cash for themselves.

There is a difference between being business savvy and being an asshat who rips off his employees.

auburnjunky-"Here`s what we think you should make."

What you think you should make and your actual worth to the company are two completly different things.

auburnjunky-"If you make less than this, complain."

Or, better yet, put in some more effort and make more, get a better job or improve your work ethic. (Or, like most people, turn 18 and realize you can do better.)

You guys are just being emotional again. Every time this subject is brought up, it is debunked why fast food workers can`t make 15 dollars an hour. It`s not going to happen. Half will be fired. The rest will worker harder to justify the new wage. You will order by computer. Machines will assemble most of the burger.

And the whole concept of LIVING wage is really, really stupid. You guys don`t even realize. Just because you have 3 babies doesn`t entitle you to a higher salary for the same work. That`s what a living wage means.

It also doesn`t make any sense if you know anything about Economics.

patchouly-"paying their employees less then they can live on."

Their pay is based on the value they bring to the company. If they are making widgets which sell for $5, and they only make 2 widgets an hour, then a $15 hourly wage is not warrented (or even possible).

It`s not the responsibility of the owner to pay a living wage, as some jobs can easily be done as part time, supplimental or by high-school kids.

It`s up to the worker to earn a living wage.

Do you REALLY want to know what will happen if you raise the minimum to $15 an hour? There will be fewer positions. AND they will be filled by better workers, who were already out of Wally Word at a job that paid betters.

So in addition to fewer jobs, the current group of McEmployees will not have a chance at the remaining jobbs.

This has got to be out of date. Three years ago I was earning a salary in £`s at the same rate as $`s for the same job, and I was getting loads of offers from various companies in the USA who wanted me at much higher rates. Who`s kidding who?

@ MidPac - isn`t Hawai`i quite expensive? I know San Diego is considered one of the most pricey places to live. Avg Income vs Cost of Living. Use that and I think you`ll get an idea locally for you.

Here, gasoline is high, land/housing is high, utilities are some of the highest in the country. But avg. income is low because is such a beautiful place to live people put up with it. Less that 15% can afford to buy a home here

The allotted spare income where I live, on minimum wage, is $58 a month. Ooohhh the fun to be had with $58 a month!
That is of course, if you can keep your housing costs below the $385 a month they`ve set. Good luck with that.
Nope, no wealth gap in this country. . .

God I can`t wait to murder me some rich people when the revolution finally kicks off.

"It`s up to the worker to earn a living wage."

So, it`s ok to pay slave wages as long as there is someone desperate enough to take it? So we`re no better than Bangladesh or China? I agree that people should get training to get a better job but if you can`t make enough money to afford the training, then what? At least in countries like Germany there are public trade schools people can attend if regular college doesn`t fit their skill set or interests. There is a movement to bring this kind of training to the US Link

Yes. If I`m forced to pay more, I`ll hire someone with better education, skills, and experience than that poor desperate slob you`re so concerned about, and he can just starve.
