This, and the dentist sketch, are the two clips guaranteed to make me almost pee laughing. Tim Conway = Comedy genius
I also loved Carol Burnett in Noises Off - her reactions are almost as funny as the jokes.

I wish I could buy the complete Carol Burnett series, with a disc of outtakes like this one as a bonus. Comedy platinum, not merely gold.

That was back in the day when Saturday night was the best night on television.

Pumba, I`ve heard similar: they`d do two shows a night. The recorded one was "by the book" and the live one later ... who the hell knew what was going to happen.

I love me some Carol Burnett. My mom used to watch reruns of this and Mama`s Family, when I was little.

Apparently they did two shows a week in front of a live audience. First one was a dress rehearsal to line up all the shots for broadcast and then the live show on Saturday night.
During the dress rehearsal everyone acted very professional, funny too but when they went live you never knew what was gonna happen. The joys of live TV with no delay either!

We need real comedy like that and live TV again. Sorry but SNL is usually crap and has been for a long time. Let`s get back to more live comedy shows and get some good improv actors. Whose Line Is It Anyway was a good show.

Carol Burnett was THEE show to watch on Saturday night. Everyone watched that in the `70s. I will never forget Carol playing Charo`s aged mother with big fat butt and sagging titties. It`s still funny to this day.
{For you younger IABers, "Charo" is a buxum blonde Spanish singer famous for her "coochi - coochi! "}

I swear most of the humor in that show came from people like Tim Conway going off-script and deadpanning idiotic riffs like this one to crack up the rest of the players. If the whole show had gone strictly by the script, it wouldn`t have been half as successful.

They used to crack-up more than the SNL people.
