White American?
Black American?
Why not American American?
Why does the news reporter have to say `American`? Surely the people of America know what country they live in, and do not need to be told by a news reporter.

Some of them might need reminding.

How ironic that the guy ran because he didn`t like all the "shenanigans" he thinks goes on at the school. Takes one to know one I guess.

Sad to see that we AREN`T a giant mushpot and more like oil, vinegar, and water.

People voting people in only because of last names and color.

This is just a case of losers whining: those pamphlets don`t SAY they`re pictures of him, and he uses different pictures on various ones!

Sure it`s "sneaky" but it`s also perfectly legal. And smart!

All the pamphlets (shown) do is represent the DEMOGRAPHICS of his supporters! :-) Nothing `naughty` about that, eh?

@keith2 Detroit just proved that even racists have a limit to the amount of $#!+ that they are willing to eat.

drat yeah! I applaud this man. He led them to dupe themselves and showed that the average American voter is incapable of handling such a responsibility. Beautiful.

Black people don`t vote on candidates just because they`re also black. See: Detroit`s new mayor.

He just proved that the vast majority of blacks are racists.

I don`t think that it`s a simple as "they voted for him because they thought he was black".

Wasn`t he running against another black man?
*Checks video*
Yes, yes he was.

I can only conclude that he did have a better platform than his opponent.

Granted, he only got votes because they thought him black, but it was more like "this black guy has a better platform than that black guy".

Black voters deserved what they got if they voted for him because they thought he was black.

This was the plot of that Eddie Murphy movie, "The Distinguished Gentleman."

I agree with what Gerry and elkingo have said.

Maybe next time people will vet who they are really voting for instead of assuming things based on race.

"Love this. Good for him."

Uhh...you know he`s an anti-gay activist, right Gerry?

So the candidate mislead the voters, and the voters didn`t inform themselves of who they were voting. What`s new about that?

Amazing that this is Houston, because in 2012 the Texas district containing Houston elected a guy named Al Green to be their congressional representative. To this day, most of them believe he is the great singer Al Green ("Let`s Stay Together" "Here I Am Baby" "Love and Happiness") but he`s not. Turns out the congressman Al Green has a Law Degree and is well qualified, but most people voted for him because they thought he was the beloved soul singer.

Love this. Good for him.
It`s always okay when "they" do it. If I voted for a white guy because he was white I`d be called racist.

It shouldn`t matter what his color is, but he recognized that he would need to be black to win. It`s the public`s fault, they voted for a person who they didn`t even know. Kudos to him, he recognized a weakness in his campaign via the racist political leaning against him and made it his strength. Good or bad, either way the public will get what they deserve.

So the black voters only voted for him because they thought he was black? Wouldn`t that be racist if it was the other way round?

If the voters were only going to vote based on race anyway, then they definitely got what they deserved.
