I think the cake at the end with the watermark on the picture is what really made me laugh. I spent the rest of the post with a horrified look on my face. What are those frozen things??? Is that a shrimp jello mold??? WHY???

What do you expect when it is done by men for the shop thanksgiving dinner. Just worry about cleaning up the hay from the carpet.

Pinkminx22, If that is your worst childhood memory then you aren`t doing too bad. Way to bring down the thread. Happy Thanksgiving.

@Paperduck..Yes unfortunatley we were the recipients that time..I sure wish it was a grandparent wisdom type thing because it would have made the whole experience go down a lot smoother, however that wasn`t the case..They went because it was free to do...It made me sick and I hated it.

@Pinkminx22 you mean you went to the soup kitchen as recipients? Is it possible they were trying teach you "look how unfortunate some people are, do well in school, etc."? I can`t think of why they`d invite you across states to go to a soup kitchen unless it was grandparent wisdom time. It`s something mine would do.

iamatree - Thanksgiving at Plymouth
In September 1620, a small ship called the Mayflower left Plymouth, England, carrying 102 passengers.

Your idea is funny, but I think this may be a more logical answer. I believe it being a `rock` symbolizes Plymouth Rock... not being `stoned`

In case no one understood it, 1620 is military time for 4:20... the stoner version of "tea time" per say.

Once you see that, the rest of it kind of makes sense.

It sounds like you still weigh that quite heavily in your heart! You could maybe donate to `pay` for the meal you had, or maybe volunteer? Just a way to pay for your guiltless "crime" :)

@ Gerry1of1...That would definitely be a Thanksgiving to remember...Look on the bright side of things (if there is one) at least "Thanksgivings from hell" make for interesting stories. I enjoy listening to other people`s stories as well if they are willing to share..

@ Pinkminx22 - I`m sympathetic to your story, but you lose. The worst Thanksgiving Story I`ve heard Is "Dead Grandpa". Seems Grandpa had a habit of falling asleep on the sofa. A Thanksgiving he fell asleep...died....and no one notice! They took all kinds of photos side-by-side with dead-Grandpa not realizing he was dead until later.

Sounds bad, but wouldn`t you like to go peacefully surrounded by loved ones? I would. It think it`s brilliant even if it did put everyone off turkey.

Well...one year my grandparents who live out of state invited us to go have thanksgiving with them at a nice restaurant, and after driving several hours to get there. They decided to drop the bomb on us that we were gonna go eat at a soup kitchen put on by the church..What was so bad was..we had the money to go to the restaurant. I begged and pleaded with my grandparents for us to not go to the soup kitchen, because it was for people who were truly in need..I offered to pay for their meal at the restaurant and everything ..So instead they went to the mission because it was free even though they had the money..I was very upset and I felt very badly because that mission was meant for those who were truly without..I voiced my opinion and I was very against it and at the same time I wanted to be a good grandaughter..Sorry this post brought back those bad memories for some reason,it wasn`t a good thanksgiving that year..To this day it still makes me sick to my stomach to think about that..
