Some are not really holes- desserts can be bloody cold at times for starters. There are a few others which have an explanation of sorts.

What Madduck said. As I type this, it`s 54 deg F (12 deg C for the non-Americans) in Santa Fe right now. A light jacket is often appropriate in New Mexico November thru March.

Other desserts that can be cold: ice cream, sherbet, and sorbet. ~sticks tongue out at Madduck~

As for the Karate Kid, if you listen to what the announcer says before the last match (in the background), while the main characters are talking in the foreground, you`ll hear him announce that "full contact" rules apply. "Full Contact" pretty much means anything goes.

Deserts don`t have to be hot, just dry. Vegas gets snow regularly. Always take your coat to the desert.

The phoenix rears cured the basalisc venom before it could kill Harry or the horcrux.

The LOTR one always bugs me. The WHOLE POINT of the Fellowship bringing the ring to Mordor and not, oh, a giant army of soldiers or a FLEET OF MOTHER Fing EAGLES is because Sauron would have SEEN IT COMING (hence giant eye - DUH) and would it would have failed, so they needed to go under his radar. With Sauron gone in the end, yes, it was quite easy for the eagles to fly in and save the hobbits.

There are plenty that are worse than this:
X-Men: Why does Sabertooth tip THAT particular tree over if he`s after Rogue and not Wolverine? How did he know WHERE to find Rogue in ALL of Canada/Alaska?

Inception: If the van is going over, why does the whole f*cking crew not wake up?

Dark Knight: Jumps out the freaking window, doesn`t bother to go back and check on the rest of the party guests.

"Why did they crawl over a massive fence...." Not a plothole, can be accounted for character stupidity.
"Hired Newman to write 2 million lines of code." Not a plot hole, simply a bad HR decision.
"Beauty Mark switches sides" - not a plot hole.
