Link: Invisible Bike Helmets! - Very cool solution to the clunky, traditional, hard shell bike helmet!

That`s a fairly old clip and it doesn`t seem to be on the market. Nice idea.

Here are all of the retailers who are offering it, LordJim: click here. The story broke on the international scene (far as I can tell) in TechCrunch back in August. Here`s hoping it catches on. I like it! :-)

Smag, this video was around a year or two ago. It was on a BBC program a while ago discussing new ideas.

a helmet may look silly but a huge collar looks cool, right? oh and it`s a one time deal so everytime you make a sudden movement that may or may not be an accident you have to buy a new one.
Also, i cars are history, doesn`t that render your invention obsolete?

First off, they are hidden and not invisible.
Secondly, once deployed you run the risk of a George Zimmerman wannabe shooting you because you`ve become suspicious looking.

@CaptKangaroo: good point on the "hidden" versus "invisible". And I guess it`s not really a "helmet", either, but rather an "inflatable head and neck protective device". But I still reckoned it was pretty cool. :-)

@SmagBoy1- I agree they look interesting and a bit cool- But I couldn`t reconcile saying that in my first post, given the sarcasm.

They`ve had life vests like this for years. They`re expensive as hell, and they weigh a ton.

Whenever I hear Swedish or other Scandinavian languages and statements like "We are going to save the world" I think I am watching a Discovery Channel filler-slot.

SO ... it`s an explosive that goes around your neck?

It reminds me of the Tales From The Darkside episode Lifebomb

They did a similar thing a few years ago, with jacket/airbags for motorcyclists. Never caught on.
