Point the first: The US Border Patrol and whatever agencies set up a legal (if annoying) checkpoint on a road within the country.
Point the second: By saying "American" and flashing a license, this guy could pass thru said checkpoint.
Point the third: Surely this guy could find better causes to put his efforts into.

"This guy is about as comprehensible as Charles Manson. Leave it to the internet to dig up these conspiracy theory nut jobs who`d rather hand the country over to drug cartels than simply provide a valid driver`s license. I hope he goes "missing.""

Yee haw. America, land of the fr... guitly until proven innocent.

This is not a border crossing, if they had evidence to support them being there (say for example numbers of how many illegal immigrants they have caught in the past year on that road) I am sure they would be posting a rebuttal video online right now.

My guess, on that particular road you are getting about one illegal immigrant per 5 million dollars of tax payers money spent on bloated government agencies protected by aggressive unions.

As for your "I hope he goes missing" comment, do you even realise what you are saying? Do you want your country to make people go "missing" when they question the rights

Second, the interviewer is asking a lot of that top button. The only reason I watched until the end was the off hope that they were going to pop out.
Do they need to have reasonable suspicion that you`ve committed/are committing an offence in order to "search" you like that?
On countries borders don`t think so the whole smuggling thing is their defense. Go across the border from US to Canada and observe Canadian officers doing the same.

"Pretty sure you have to present a valid drivers license to a police officer when driving a car...you know that whole technicality."

Depends on the local laws I suppose. Do they need to have reasonable suspicion that you`ve committed/are committing an offence in order to "search" you like that?

@Denogginizer

Tell me your credit card number and security details please.

I mean...while we`re talking about handing over information that you shouldn`t have to, just because it`s "easier".

If they allow this to continue then they should pass a law requiring the agents to speak with German accents ["Vere are your papers?"] just so everyone knows the direction the country is heading.

so... a university lecturer (i wonder what his political leanings are?) doesn`t agree with border patrols near the border and decides to be uncooperative then gets charged for it. He then decides to `hold them accountable` by video-taping them and being deliberately antagonistic to provoke behaviour that he can then complain about.

What a douche!

No, the lowest form of human is he who enables unconstitutional behavior by law enforcement by rolling over and submitting.

"May I see some ID?"
"Sure, here."
"Thank you, have a nice day."
Problem solved! This barnacle is provoking confrontation for the sake of scandal. He is the lowest form of human.

Government is so efficient. And just imagine, with all that money invested in the border, we don`t even have sovereignty over it.
