@arsebanditry:
It was a 19 year old thief who stole a car and rammed another, refused to give his insurance, the cab guy got the club when the thief tried to flee, the thief then rammed more innocent people.

The gun drops down from a building and kills everyone, gun wins. Situation defused.

"Ah Chicago... land of stringent guns laws. Only the criminals have them. This would not have happened in NC. Ridiculous liberals and their useless control laws."

How can you be sure that a gun wouldn`t have escalated the situation instead of defusing it?

The result of the situation as it happened: nobody was hurt. Exactly what improvement are you hoping to accomplish by adding a gun to the mix? The result was already pretty much optimal.

747pilot: the red Honda (the one he narrowly missed)on the video is also on Google street view.

Just as I suspected, he didn`t want to swap insurance info or wait for the cops because the SUV was stolen.

Based on the information available in the video all I can see is some guy trying to block a car in the road and then attacking it. No video of what caused this to escalate but I know if some guy cam at my car wit ha club I`d probably run him over.

I feel like I would have ran that ass over way before it came to him grabbing a club.

Slut_etta; you`ve missed the point; the person in the black crossover hit the guy that had the club, and was refusing to give their insurance information; he only hit the driver side window after the driver of the black crossover tried to drive thru him.

Comments said it was a stolen SUV, so he had no reason to stop and just wanted to get away. He wrecked it some blocks later. May also explain the bad driving, in an unfamiliar car trying to do getaway

if somebody came at me in my vehicle with a club in his hand, i would lock the door and just keep driving, as slow or as fast as i needed to drive. the SOB *will* get out of the way.

I thought that looked familiar ... I think I was lost in that area once trying to get out of a game at Wrigley Field (a few blocks NE of there). lol.

No, that wasn`t me.

The minute someone starts trying to smash your windows with a club you should be allowed to bail without penalty.

About a year ago I was rear-ended at a red light, nothing serious. The driver behind got out looking seriously distraught so I got out in my best soothing mode. Open hand gesture, my most charming smile and an urbane `Oops.`

There was no damage so I said we should go on our way. She was so grateful I was embarrassed but I noticed one of the first things she said was, `My husband would have killed me ...`

Hopefully not literally but even so if I had known a good divorce lawyer I`d have slipped her his card.

While the cabby shouldn`t have hit their window they are clearly in the wrong. I suspect there was something else going on here. Why do all of that just to get out of a small bumper incident..

Looks to me like the cab driver was threatening him so he panicked and tried to get out of there. "Running for your life" is probably a good defence. If he goes straight to the cops, I bet he doesn`t get any charge at all.

Has to be either a stolen car or the driver has a warrant out for his/her arrest and doesn`t want to get caught. No one freaks out over a fender bender like that unless they have bigger problems.

Stolen car? Otherwise why not just exchange insurance details?

That driver was acting like a cornered animal. He wanted OUT of there. The other cars in the street had plenty of opportunity to box him in, but nobody acted on it.
