Ya there`s no poor white people.... Guess what those poor white people don`t get though. You won`t fix a problem with double standards. Special treatment for being white = racist Special treatment for being black = somehow not

@McGovern
I`m willing to bet he`s had more white privilege in Italy than most white people in the USA.

lauriloo I think the "fake outrage" mostly stems from the fact that "Black face" aka, the caricature is incredibly offensive, legitimately! but when sweet little Jennifer Hough tries to dress up as her favorite character from a tv show, she too is labelled as racist because any person changing their skin colour to dark is `Black Face`.

That being said, sorry McGovern1981 maybe you don`t get any of the benefits but being a middle to upper middle class white girl is pretty much awesome.
better you don`t use words that you don`t understand ,as "concept" for example.
Concept:
a general notion or idea.

Something that rarely occurs in that ball of grease you call a brain. I see parroting.
Any white person, especially white male, who whines about affirmative action needs to look in the mirror for any reasons why they aren`t as successful as they wish they were. White people, including myself, have all the advantages by default and if you don`t succeed it`s your own fault.
ROFL!! Last time I checked I`m not the one blaming black people for my problems in life at every opportunity to try and get them to give me something. Now where`s my white devils college tuition fund? I had to pay it all I`m owed reparations!

@piperfawn

You would being from Italy and having no concept of what we`re talking about.....

All the fake outrage by the white people here is sad. "Blackface" was a caricature of a black person`s features, not an attempt to actually look like a black person. It was obviously a white person making fun of black people and THAT`S why it was racist. An attempt to actually look like another race is NOT racist because there`s no attempt to ridicule the other race. Again, it`s TRUE intent that makes something racist.

Any white person, especially white male, who whines about affirmative action needs to look in the mirror for any reasons why they aren`t as successful as they wish they were. White people, including myself, have all the advantages by default and if you don`t succeed it`s your own fault. It`s like whining about losing a race now that other people are actually starting at the starting line instead of 20 yards behind.

I would really like this translated. I am curious about the tone of their comment. Are they like OMG I am white as amazed it was even possible or OMG I am white as in a dream(I know, bad choice of words) temporarily filled? Just wondering what the context is.

I agree with what you are saying as I was born and grew up in Italy (vicino Udine) and on going back to visit I witnessed the migration of foreigners which you speak of and yes, in one sense it is devastating because it brought a "dilution" of Italian culture, in another sense it is inevitable as we move into the future.

I think a good scientific metaphor is the process of cultural diffusion. With the prevalence of easy transportation to any part of the world this was bound to happen. My (and I think your) hope as well would be that they weren`t just dropped into the country without any jobs and without the consent of the Italian people. I think the tension (some) Americans feel is a natural reaction to this cultural diffusion, no different than in any other country.

On a side note, the media`s emphasis on racial stereotyping doesn`t help the situation here in the US but again, stereotyping is another coping mechanism for this process.

they trying to find a way to get invited into my house? jk. seriously tho thats waaaaay different then black face. not that black face isn`t funny. nothing is off topic when it comes to comedy. also Robert Downey Jr. as Kirk Lazarus was the funniest poo ever. mac and dennis on its always sunny acting out lethal weapon 6 is another example of tasteful black face. shoe polish and making your lips look big is offensive but tough poo i`ve laughed at worse things then that.

Tupinambis yes here is also an issue but there is a difference, italians haves roots in this territory from millennia,massives migrations from other continents and specially from Africa are a recent situation (20/30 years maybe) and we are 60+ milions people in a very little territory compared for example to Texas.The major part of coulored people or migrants here can barely talk italians and rarely they know english,is a very different situation here compared to your situation where people of every kind of race is an US citizen born in that country .For me the issue you have depends in large part from the slavery you had that is pretty recent and cause of the structure of your cities,organized in blocks where is easy to find ghettos or entire pieces of your cities where only one kind of comunity live. You have few squares (piazza) and the life seems to be all closed in the life of every block like many villages adjacent one to another but all different. Don`t know just my opinion.

A constitution doesn`t necessarily represent its individuals` beliefs (especially one that`s more than 200 years old). The people in the USA are still human, much like in Italy where I know race is a big issue. Globalization is trying to undo the work of tens of thousands of years of geographical isolation (evolution). It`s gonna be a challenge till we all look the same.

Were the blonde guy and the redheaded woman married? haha I wondered if they were gonna go bang in the closet. Talk about role playing.

I think the makeup is pretty impeccable, although there is something slightly unnatural about them, I think it`s partially because the makeup can only cover so far past the inside of the model`s mouth, and so there seems to be an edge, plus they all have very very dark eyes. I don`t know if I would naturally recognize the difference in person, because knowing the disguise already, I was looking much closer to detail.

Rick_S: "I`d try it out in a heart beat. See what it`s like to be a person of color or a latino. Get a first hand experience of how bad it really is."

First off, your assumption that it would be a bad experience is rather racist of you.

Secondly, many people would argue that even if you tried this, you wouldn`t "know" what it`s really like because race is mostly cultural and not just skin color.

Thirdly, believing it`s generally easier to be white, because of presumed "white privilege" is another fallacy. All other things being equal, a minority person gets advantages in the US because of the reverse racism of affirmative action policies.

Gauddith, painting a face doesn`t change the bone structure and glaring differences inherent between the Caucasoid and Negroid races.

So, no, there is something "not white" about them.

Is really strange how the american society,that is supposed to be a free and multiethnical society not having a direct root on the territory ( you all come from other continents in origin), is so susceptible when it comes to matter of races. Racism seems to be still well alive with his double faces there. Is really an issue, reading the comments that often i see here.

Did anyone here watch Ice Cube`s mini documentary "Black. White."? It aired back in `06. I`m assuming this situation here is something similar? Also, I was going to pull the race card thing, but I couldn`t be bothered with being sarcastically offended. Too much work.

And now they should go out and see how differently people react to them. Amazing makeup though.

"Not only is it racist, but there`s still something "not white" about them after they are done."

Wow, this is all kinds of wrong. They look white as all getout to me. We`re talking eats beats and worries about gluten kind of white.

I have no idea what the deal is with some people but I thought it was cool. And if I saw a caucasian with such impressive makeup I wouldn`t think it were racist.

The difference is, we used to do black face, which was literally black face paint with red lipstick. It`s completely different. One is meant to insult the race, this was just them seeing what they would look like with white features.
