They are MORONs, 1gal of gas is equal to 2 stick of dynamite. And they poured 5 gal. on there.

This one never gets old. Not sure why so many people are still unaware that this is often the result of using gasoline to start a bonfire with.

Oh well... at they entertain us before they receive their Darwin Award.

Gasoline has a low evaporation temperature which means that on a hot day that there is quite an abundance of fuel vapors mixed in the air. So the equation is:

(gas vapor + air) + ignition source = BOOM!

5 gallons equals 1 stick of Dy-no-mite! (62.5 sticks actually, wonder why there wasn`t a crater)

Worst part is? The pile didn`t even lite on fire...

I don`t think the gas container was full, but that`s still a LOT of gas to start ANY sort of fire with. Anyhow: gasoline vapors ignite with a vengeance!

My neighbors used to have a big wire mesh leaf burner (~3` x 4` x 5`). We would fill it with dry leaves, pour on about a cup of gasoline, let it sit for a few minutes, and then throw matches at it. When it went off, it would rattle windows a block away.

Great fun was had by all.

we poured a bottle of water filled with gas on a pile of brush at my buddies and lit it with a roman candle from about 30`. It was a lot hotter then we anticipated and the fireball must have gone 30`-40` up, cool stuff and no one died.

Why would you even need petrol to light a bonfire?

Use diesel instead. It burns slower.

Diesel is a pita to get lit. And doesn`t make for a controlled burn.

Well at least he was right with the "don`t try this at home" part. But they should have followed their own advice.
