That`s ok, now the Red Cross is begging game developers to penalize players who commit `war crimes` in a game.

Nobody in their right mind says video games *cause* violence. Rather, video games reflect the already existing violent culture. So, you could say that our already existing violent culture *caused* video games to be designed to appeal to our existing preferences.

    Correlation does not equal causation.

    It isn`t just video games.

Any glorification of violence associates violence with fun and makes someone more likely to commit violent acts without a guilt or conscience response.

In olden times they had things like gladiators or jousting. People have been playing war and watching people play war forever.

Video games are just this generation`s version.

Pretty sure the Romans were PS4 fan boys, and the Carthaginians were Xbox-One fan boys.

    Battle was inevitable.

Why don`t they allow smoking on TV? Why don`t they allow racism, sexism, bigotry or homophobia on TV? Why don`t they glorify drunk driving or bullying or discrimination or, for that matter, independent thought on TV? Could it be that it`s thought those behaviors might be mimicked in real life? If so, why not violence?

Violent video games leads to "desensitization" which is the root of a LOT of bad behaviours...

Which is why playing Candy Crush during school hours should be allowed! :-)

HG: "Any glorification of violence associates violence with fun and makes someone more likely to commit violent acts without a guilt or conscience response."

What a pant load of sh|t!

I`ve played video games, a lot more when I was younger, for decades. And I wouldn`t harm another human being unless my life, or my family`s life depended on it. And it`s not even out of my sense of morality. I physically get ill from adrenaline, get anxiety, nausea, shake and get a pounding headache.

Video games have never given me an adrenaline rush. Why? Because, like most healthy minded people, we can separate reality from fiction.

Perhaps, if you have violent tenancies to begin with, video games may allow you an outlet for your pent up aggression. But they are not the cause of the aggression.

Violence is a perfectly natural thing. Nothing right or wrong with it. It`s just there, like the sun is in the sky each day.

Well your own personal experience definitely trumps basic human psychology.

It only really affects people in the early stages of brain development, pre-13. You`re in your 40s, I`m not talking about pong and pacman dumba.ss. I`m talking about realistic war simulators like call of duty modern warfare and other realistic glorifications of killing.

Wow this is dumb. No one says only video games cause violence. For example, idiotically poor logic like in this post can cause violence too.

Video games don`t cause all violence. They just cause school shootings.

How many school shootings were there in roman times before video games?

    None?

    I rest my case.
