If the GOP is going throw their lolly out of the pram, you may as well ram gun control down their throats at the same time.

To the people saying that people oppose the ACA because of the "Obamacare" name and that the name was coined by conservatives: You act as if this all started yesterday. The term "Obamacare" was coined by the media back in 2008 when Barack Obama was quite possibly the most popular politician in American History and was polling at the highest approval ratings of any President in history. The fact that the ACA was so closely identified with Obama is the reason that so many Americans supported it without really having any idea whatsoever what was in it.

I say this with confidence based on the people I interact with/Friends/and social groups. Almost all of them support a nationwide insurance. I think people in general want a single payer instead. IMO that`s truly the best way to go.

Healthcare should never have been a for profit enterprise. Because if you have the option between death and being charged millions of dollars you`ll always choose whatever keeps you alive. It`s a false choice. Healthcare can still make money, I`m not saying it shouldn`t, that`s why you have a national healthcare that everyone is apart of bake it into taxes to guarantee funding.

Hollywood is the largest concentration of stupid people in America. These dolts never had a chance. My response to the one asking the question would have been... Please don`t vote anymore. In fact, here is a condom, don`t breed anymore either.

Isnt Obamacare a nickname invented by the conservatives? had it not been used as is apparant in this video people would have supported the bill otherwise!

"inherently biased names that are self-satifisying and which they think are clever"

Which also accurately describes the politicians that name the bills as well as the bills themselves.

I mean, back in the day, the names would all be things like "The Federal Reserve Act", "Glass-Steagal", or "Civil RIghts Act", or "Elementary and Secondary Education act of 1965" - short simple names, no acronyms or inherently biased names that are self-satifisying and which they think are clever.

So, yes, The Affordable Healthcare Act has an inherently stupid name.

No, it would soooo still be happening if it didn`t get the name Obamacare. Like I said, the Patriot act has a happy face name and is disliked.

But also, it`s actually dumber to ONLY call this bill "the affordable care act". There`s no proof to substantiate the name. It has an inherently positive name, just like the Patriot Act.

Or how about "No Child Left Behind"? (They got left behind.)

"Prison Rape Elimination Act"? (Didn`t eliminate shiite.)

"Recovery and Reinvestment Act" (No.)

"Head start" (Doesn`t give you a head start.)

I think thats the point whodat, the name has connotations that a lot find distasteful due to the negative rhetoric from those against it, had it been left as Affordable Care Act this shutdown and the childishness may not be happening right now.
Anyway I hope the US doesnt implode before I get to visit again next year, please wait a wee bit eh.

Makes you wonder if all this sh*t would be going on right now if the Affordable Care Act was never given the nickname "Obamacare."

I don`t like it when laws have names that are dooshy, like Affordable Care Act, or Patriot Act for that matter. The first implying (in a way that`s currently unknowable) that healthcare costs will go down, the second that all true Patriots support it. I`m sure you can come up with dozens more.

ObamaCare already delves into:
Smoking
Seat Belt Use
`Obesity`

Gun Control is just a Presidential Order away! No need for the Elected Government to have any say in the matter...
