I really don`t care what your politics are. ObamaCare is a STUPID idea. It`s real simple... you want government run healthcare and exchanges? HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE DMV? HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE POST OFFICE? The government is just BAD AT RUNNING THINGS. Again, I don`t care about your politics, this is just history and fact.

@OldOllie - I try to find explanations that are "dumbed down" as when I read the more serious articles, all I see is a bunch of blahdy blah blah buzz words, makes me go all sleepy time.

@Crakr "And it`s been learned recently that the IRS will have the power to extract those fines directly from people`s bank accounts."

THAT part just FREAKS ME OUT!

whodat6484-"I didn`t say that an individual wouldn`t pay anything, did I?"

I did not say you did, as you were specifically talking about the $2,000 fine.

I just clarified your statement for some who would misinterpret it.

CrakrJak-"it`s been learned recently that the IRS will have the power to extract those fines directly from people`s bank accounts."

I don`t know if that`s been verified, yet. But it wouldn`t suprise me...after all a good portion of this administration seems to think that the money belongs to the governent and that they should control it all.

@bliznik: And just WHO put the States in charge of it? OBAMACARE! That`s who! So your point is that Obama is an idiot? OK!

Hey @WhoDat: You`re OK with all those "hand picked exemptions" Obama has given his cronies? Don`t you think they should pay the TAX too? OR the fine for not paying it? Rather than getting a:

MeGrendel: And it`s been learned recently that the IRS will have the power to extract those fines directly from people`s bank accounts.

IRS, "Can`t pay your rent? Screw you! We`ll take it directly from your bank anyways."

That`s the future of Obamacare.

@Oystah, I-A-B and Redit are probably as reliable as the Obamacare web site, which means they are not reliable at all. Each might provide some truthful information and a lot more complete bull$#!+, but how the hell are we supposed to sort it out?

whodat6484-"The $2000 fine is what employers have to pay per employee if they opt out"

Correct, that is a fine for employers who do not cover employees.

whodat6484-"not what an individual who opted out would pay."

There is also a fine for individuals who choose not to get coverage. (and if your employer doesn`t cover you, and you don`t get it yourself, guv`mint will gladly fine you both).

For 2014, the penalty is either $95 per adult or 1% of family income, whichever is larger.

By 2016, the penalty is either $695 per adult or 2.5% of family income, whichever is larger.

@Oldollie - "You really shouldn`t be trusting a poster on a humor site for your health care information."

Yeah, no dur - I`m insured anyway - I just can`t wrap my head around how it works is all and there`s so much conflicting and not true info. Like I said, I just glaze over reading about it.

@Whodat - Thx - I freely admit I find the whole thing confusing as f*uck I even read Reddit`s explain to me like I`m five. Still not fully grasping. LOL.
The states are incompetent at getting people health insurance after 3 years of preparation. That must be Obamacare`s fault.
Finally, somebody gets it. State governments are no more competent than the federal government. Did anyone seriously think that forcing the states to do something that the federal government can`t do would somehow work out?

@Oystah
"As I understand it, you cannot get a price quote until the very end of the sign-up process. If you decide to opt out at that point, they have all the information they need to seize your bank account and collect the $2000 fine for not signing up."

I read that too - WTF? Is that really true?
Sleepyhallow-"Yeah, and using the same logic, because you can`t get the new Iphone on the first day, Apple should stop making them."

That`s not a good analogy.

When an iphone goes on sale, I can go online and order one and it will come to me in time. I may not get it the first day, but I can order one (hell, I can even PRE-order one.)

These people were not trying to purchase Obamacare today. They are `pre-ordering` (i.e. enrolling) for something that does not start until 2014.

And, if only 1% of people who tried to buy an iphone online were successful, Apple would be broke. (much like this country already is)

@JTReb: Both my father and my grandfather were rushed to the Mayo Clinic for emergency treatments they`d have to wait WEEKS to get up here. Grandpa lost a leg, my father had 6 kinds of cancer and died 6 months later anyhow.

CLOSE ENOUGH FOR YOU?

1% per year? Bullship: It`s a lot higher than that if you count "snowbirds" too. 1% is just specific trips, a lot more Canadians "go south" for treatments than that.

@SleepyHallow: Day 3, no one signed up yet in many States! NOT ONE PERSON! As @OldOllie rightfully points out: 3 YEARS to get ready? HAHAHA!

@WhoDat and @Squrlz4: Just make it a little smaller please? It`s disruptively large. It`s VERY easy to do that on PhotoBucket...

I think I`m the only person here who is uninsured. Everyone is having a fun time talking about my needs, I see.

draculya, that`s stupid. It`s well documented that Americans give more to charity than any other nation.

Why don`t all of you people have free universal healthcare, if your nation is so rich and caring?

Oh, that`s right, you spent all the money you have and more killing innocent people overseas. "Oh no, they`re militants" you respond. They`re militants because they are pissed with your cultural decadence and evil foreign policy. You made your bed and you can lie in it.

So, considering less than one percent of you guys come over here for healthcare, can you explain why more don`t? How many times have you come over her for healthcare?

How can you expect them to have their web site up and running on the first day? They`ve only had 3 years and a virtually unlimited budget to get it ready.

Obama = SCOAMF.

@Squrlz4Sale. i feel your pain. i once dropped an iron bookend on my foot and went to the emergency room for an x-ray. the claim was denied because the insurance company deemed my accident as a `self-inflicted injury`.

well, yeah, it was, but it was an accident not a deliberate attempt to hurt myself....

Yes it`s "day one" but I predict this won`t be "up and running" anytime soon...

There are supposed to be several other parts of ObamaCare going already: they`re not.

So a quick rundown of the benefits thus far:
>Fewer people insured now
>Double the costs & still rising
>Big cutbacks on coverage

YUP! ObamaCare and the ACA are working just like Obama planned! :-)

Y`all can come to Canada for treatment, but be prepared to wait 2-3 MONTHS for it. >-(

If not, guess you shoulda donated more to the DNC...

@ Whodat: I may have to start borrowing that graphic of yours. Just the other day 5Cats was telling me that attempting to address global warming will result in the deaths of "billions" of people. "It`s a fact!" he says. BILLIONS: Wow. Who knew that solar panels could wipe out humanity?

This is the same person who`s always decrying the "scare tactics" of those who support AGW science.

So, let`s see if I have this right. A brand new website launches and has a HUGE volume of traffic (approx 4.7 million hits) on it`s first day and there were a few technical issues? Well, that does it, I guess the only logical conclusion we can come to is that it`s a complete and total f*cking failure!

Meh. Day 1 of a new system and it has glitches? I`m not going to sweat it.

Ever try disputing a denied payment with a for-profit insurance provider? I have: It was such a nightmare I simply gave up after one week`s worth of phone calls during my lunch hours and paid for the medically necessary test out-of-pocket.
