    This is a good idea. Kerching!
    I drove over the bridge-tunnel in the early eighties. What frightened me most was the people on it who were frightened. Just staring, white-faced, with white knuckled hands crushing the wheel. Dead slow. Middle of the road.
    I asked for a packet of Marlborough in the shop on the island; nearly double the price of those in the UK. The sales girl handed me the pack and I nearly fell over again when she handed me a 200 pack rather than a 20 pack.

    A warning to all Chesapeake Bay Bridge drivers and local residents. On a daily basis, there are 10 to 30 unfit drivers out of 61,000 crossing your bridge. You`ve been presented a way to identify them, in fact, they will identify themselves! Use this information wisely.

    @spanerbulb couldn`t agree more.

    They are finally starting to put in roundabouts here (despite public outcry) to alleviate traffic and reduced accidents but a lot of people are scared and don`t know how to use them...

    We put one in here, and it`s been quite a "challenge" for some of the drivers here. They will literally run a stop sign coming out of a parking lot and make a left turn onto the street just to get in front of me a block before the roundabout; but when they get to the entrance, they will come to a full stop, even when there are no other cars in sight. It`s like they go into complete brain lock.

    We also have an underground cold storage facility here with loading docks for semi-trailers. A lot of drivers refuse to drive into the cave and need someone do it for them.

    The scariest bridge I`ve ever been on was a freeway ramp in Dallas. It didn`t seem like much till I got on it. It was one lane, curved and banked for 50-60 mph, with low concrete railings. The problem was, it was 3 levels up, which put it about 80-100` (8-10 stories) above the ground, and the whole thing was perched on little spindley concrete pillars about 200 yards apart. I made it okay, but I have to admit to a slight bout of scrotumitis.

    Just for fun, I tried driving the ramp in the Google Maps car, and I FELL OFF THE F***ING BRIDGE!!!

    Check out the satellite view on Google Maps:

    Reminded me of this, more or less the exact opposite kind of situation, where else but in Russia.

    The Bay Bridge and the Bay Bridge Tunnel can be quite intimidating. I can certainly see why a tiny percentage of people would be frightened.

    And as Ollie mentioned off ramps...there are a few off the D.C. Beltway that seem more like what I`d build with Hot Wheels track as a kid than ask Joe Public to navigate during rush hour.
