Of course religion is invented by humans. What you may be trying to say is that God was invented by humans. That`s another matter entirely.

I`m not going to get into a great debate about the origins of religions or on the existence of a god...

But from a purely historical point of view I call BS. First of all, we know Romans persecuted Christians from the mid 1st century CE to the 4th century CE. Why would the Roman elite simultaneously be spreading a cult and persecuting it?

Next, quote from the article: "Atwill argues that the events of his (Jesus`) life were overlaid on top of actual events from the First Jewish-Roman War, waged by Emperor Titus Flavius in Palestinian territories."

The first Jewish-Roman war occurred between 66-73 CE. However by then, Christianity was documented to be well established in the Roman empire, with Nero ordering their persecution after the great fire of Rome in 64 CE, for which he apparently blamed them. Hence from a chronological pov there are errors in this theory.

The Romans didn`t invent Christianity. Christianity overwhelmed them after being persecuted.

Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies, He is the Alpha and Omega. There is no doubt that he started Christianity.

    "Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies"

So the people that made up the 300 prophecies for the savior they made up also made up the part where he fulfilled the 300 prophecies? What a SHOCKING coincidence.

no, they didnt create Christianity. They just standardized and marketed it better based on focus groups.

Sadly of course, I doubt we can ever know the truth behind the Jesus myth. I would guess it is all the old prophecies pasted onto a real person-probably one of the `warrior messiah`s` of the time... but there simply is not enough documentation to prove anything. Quite possible the Romans helped with that- but we cannot be certain.

It certainly explains why the Jesus story is almost a word for word plagiarism of the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh:

Born of a virgin under a guiding star

    Walked on water

Crucified on a cross and rose from the dead 3 days later

    etc., etc.

People capitalize your titles and it won`t do it. You won`t have the double letter error. You eliminate the problem yourself that way.

    The Romans DID invent Christianity.
Whenever the Romans invaded a country, they placed their leader in whichever conquered culture`s pantheon to encourage the people to worship their new Roman leader.
When the Romans conquered the Jews, monotheists, they had to come up with a different way to get them to worship them. So Titus Flavius Josephus created the myth of Jesus Christ to convince the Jews to be subservient. Only "Jesus Christ" was actually Josephus himself, so that the Jews would worship him as a prophet and follow his commands, obeying Roman rule.
There`s so much evidence for this line of events, it`s really shocking that it is not taught more widely.

HG: "So the people that made up the 300 prophecies for the savior they made up also made up the part where he fulfilled the 300 prophecies?"

No, the messianic prophecies were thousands of years old before Jesus was born. They couldn`t have been the same people, sorry.

Your narrative, that the whole Bible was written at one time by one group, is false. The Bible was written piecemeal through Judaic history, before Jesus was born, and then added to by his disciples after he died.

"Josephus created the myth of Jesus Christ to convince the Jews to be subservient."

Bzzt Wrong. The disciples were writing letters and calling Christ the messiah long before Josephus came along. Proof of that is in the catacombs under Rome and other archaeological evidence.

"Your narrative, that the whole Bible was written at one time by one group, is false."

When did I ever say that? The bible has been told, re-told, written, re-written, translated, re-translated thousands and thousands of times. That`s why I`m so certain it is the direct and infallible word of god.

"The Bible was written piecemeal through Judaic history"

Even WAY before that considering tons and tons of bible stories are just blatant plagiarism from pagan religions that pre-date Judaic history.

Direct quote from you. Your saying the same people wrote both the old and new testaments there, that`s rather clear.

"The bible has been told, re-told, written, re-written, translated, re-translated thousands and thousands of times."

And from it`s earliest written examples, like the dead sea scrolls, it`s remained very accurate. A particularly good example is this is the Isaiah scroll which has been carbon dated to about 300 BC and is the same Isaiah of our modern Bible.

No. "People" as in jews / christians.

Kind of like someone might say "The people that invaded korea and vietnam now invade iraq and afganistan", meaning americans, not the actual same specific people.
