I think it was well established that he got the peace prize for his `intentions` of ending the war in Iraq and reducing the US presence in Afghanistan and that the problem people had with him getting the peace prize was that he had done neither by the time he received the award. Not sure how that relates to Syria since it was not an issue at the time.

    @rpossum-

He got it because he was a pop-culture icon. It was cool to like him, simply because of the color of his skin, not the content of his character nor a "track record".

I`d say the Nobel Peace Prize is sort of a joke now.

I wonder how many people were edited out who didn`t fit the agenda of the video. I mean, the people I went to college with weren`t this stupid.

Wait. Never mind - yes they were.

RPossum - NO. Firstly, the Iraq war policy that was followed after 2008 was just a continuation of the old policy. McCain would have done the same thing.

But Afghanistan - he reduced presence? Where have you been? He surged Afghanistan right after taking office. Over 100k soldiers at one point! It wasn`t like that before, and 75% of the casualties have been under him. Afghanistan wasn`t a big war until he came in.

Just more of this "winded the wars down" garbage. He expanded them. And increased bombings of Pakistan, Yemen, and others. And also bombed Libya without consulting congress. So yes, the irony is hilarious.

Syria is related because you have a Nobel Peace Prize winner advocating bombing a country to help Al Qaeda. It`s that simple.

HumanAction, who knows. There are lots of videos like this everywhere and I`ve always wondered that. But let`s say they have 10-20 people say something really stupid. And let`s say only 5% are stupid. That would mean you`d have to interview at least 200 people (not likely). So let`s say a very generous 20% are stupid. That`s still about 50-100.

    End Women`s Suffrage.

For being a good guy? Seriously? Well, yeah, because that`s what the Nobel prize was created for. Yup. How the hell did these room-temperature IQ kids get into college? These placeholders are filling seats that should go to students that are intelligent and articulate. This video disgusts me.

I think he should send it back to the Nobel commission, especially after all the drone strikes and the saber rattling over Libya and Syria.

@Andrew - I did not say he actually reduced presence, I put quotations around `intentions` for a reason. The peace prize did become a joke because he got it for `intentions` over actions although the committee denies this even and states that he received the award for: The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to U.S. President Barack Obama for his "extraordinary efforts" to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama`s promotion of nuclear nonproliferation and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.

@Andrew. Yea were too focused on removing Saddam Hussein to worry about getting the actual people responsible for 9/11. So Obama did the right thing and sent our military to the RIGHT area (Pakistan/Afghanistan) instead of one we just didn`t happen to like particularly at that time.

OldOllie-"I`d say the Nobel Peace Prize is sort of a joke now."

Let`s see: Obama gets a Nobel `Peace` Prize for accomplishing nothing, as did Al Gore & Jimmy Carter.

It`s pretty much been a joke for a while now.

@normalfreak2: "...low informed, compared to folks like 5Cats..." Well thanks buddy! That`s a generous compliment, saying I`m well informed! :-) And smarter than the liberal left too!

List Of Nobel Peace Prize Winners Many questionable folks on this list! Also shocking are some of the names NOT on it!

Irena Sendler In 2007? Al Gore beat her for the Prize. Seriously? That`s not a joke, that`s just sick. She died the next year...
(Apparently, they don`t like to give the NPP `posthumously` eh?)

Actually, I believe RP said that, but I fully concur. The list of past recipients includes quite a large number of complete $#!+heads including Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Henry Kissinger, Yasser Arafat, Kofi Annan, Jimmy Carter, Mohamed ElBaradei, and Al Gore.

5Cats has the complete list linked below.

But really, the Afghan war was never the "Good War" after 2002 or so. It has become a lot like Iraq. It is nation building. It is fighting enemies who would not otherwise be our enemies. There is no purpose of having a continued presence, the enemies we were fighting were not out enemies to start out (Taliban). It is wasteful to surge the place with 100k troops, when we could punish them more by allowing them to continue to live in Afghanistan. Afghanistan will end up a disaster - a fact highlighted with the knowledge that our yearly foreign aid is equal to practically 100% of their gdp. Imagine if that ever ended.

Don`t spew the Obama rhetoric. Afghanistan has not been the "Good War" in a long time. There is a saying, "Let`s get in and get out". That would`ve made more sense.

And if the irony about the Peace Prize is lost on you, there is something wrong with you.

It`s kind of funny to watch the video (especially when you know they picked the dumbest responses they could get). Then you read the comments about how these idiots are a plague. It was like FIVE people man, come on! Chill out dude. Love Obama man. He`s like...good at stuff.
