I think this graph points out the obvious. I read a story about Cindy Sheehan who is still rabidly anti-war. but she is getting no love from the press at all now. What changed except a Democrat president? For the record I am a conservative Catholic and I am very much against yet another war. I would be against this if BO were a Republican as well.

@WhoDat: You consider "days and weeks" EQUAL to years? And I`M the one who`s "spinning"?

You drag NON-ISSUE STRAWMEN (abortion??? PEPSI????) into the conversation and I NEED help?

K, Roger That, Blue Falcon!

Sheesh!

Days? vs 4+ YEARS?
One opinion vs Organized Mass Rallies?

It`s all about proportion, bro.

One could (in theory) make the argument that once Obama got elected? The "Peace Movement" fully expected him to... end wars! He won the Nobel Peace Prize after all!

He didn`t: He followed Bush`s timetable in Iraq, he escalated in Afghanistan, he INVADED Libya and continues to pound Pakistan with drones.

NOW is the time for these "peace people" to step up and "speak to power" in THEIR OWN PARTY over Syria.

Instead? Crickets.
Token effort underway as I type: that`s 1 since Obama declared his intentions. ONE!

@5Cats - I haven`t said much about how I`m against gun control in a few weeks. Does that mean I`m now for gun control?

I haven`t said much about the fact that I feel it`s a woman`s right to choose whether or not she gets an abortion. Does that mean I`m pro-life now?

I haven`t said much about me being for the legalization of marijuana in the US in the last few days. Does that mean I`m against legalizing it now?

You`re making assumptions and you`re wrong. Man up and deal with it.

@5Cats - Of course, you completely missed the whole point I was making. I`m sure you read that part of my comment but have no rebuttal so you`re just ignoring it. Here it is again:

The "study" cited in this article shows that there was a drop in anti-war protesters who are Democrats when Obama took office.

You are claiming that this means the Democrats who stopped attending anti-war protests are now pro-war.

Nowhere in the article or study does it make the assumption that they are now pro-war because a Democrat is in office. It shows that they stopped physically attending anti-war protests, not that they`ve changed their minds.

What you did was exactly what you complain about the main stream media doing, kind of like this...
In retaliation to me pointing out that 5Cats` political posts are crap with sh*tty ratings and no-one cares, he files an email CCing everyone he can think of.
Just trying to keep it "off the boards". I CC`d everyone because... why not?
Dude, if you want to get me reinstated from a job I don`t get paid for, that`s one way to do it.
I don`t want to get you fired, dude! I just want you to know that you`ve made an arse of yourself.
I`m here to help run the site. If you post crap content, or make sh*tty comments, then I`m going to call you out on that.
Ditto! And we`ve had this conversation several times: It`s not a "popularity contest" in MY BOOKS ok?

I noticed some ACTUAL 1.0 posts lately! Really? NO ONE liked them enough to vote them "up" to 1.1? So to single ME out for "low votes" is... just dumb.

I`ve noticed that there is a divide, on the subject of going to war with Syria, between east/west and north/south democrats.

Seems the hippie pot loving "Berkley" type liberals are sticking to their anti-war roots and the "Ivy League" authoritarian liberals are following Obama`s lead like a heel hound.

I predict this will lead to a major defection, out of the democrat party, and possibly a lot of dems loosing elections in 2014 & 2016. It may also mean a boost to the green party and thus more pot legalization.

Don`t get me wrong, Republicans have a divide on this issue too, but they`ll stick together politically, especially if the dems start falling apart.

@WhoDat: And he followed Bush`s "demobilization" schedule which was announced in mid 2008... TO THE DAY! YET OBAMA "ended" the conflict? By NOT ending it? By following Bush`s timeline TO THE LETTER?

Wake up man!

Invasion of Libya... NO UN! NO CONGRESS!
Invasion of Syria: NO UN! NO NATO! Congress? Pfft!

@SmagBoy1: I salute you in your honesty! It`s not easy to "go against the grain" I know!
WE "Conservatives" wonder a LOT of things! WHY has Obama waited TWO FREAKING YEARS to care? WHY does he have a plan... IT`S NOT A PLAN!

The HORROR of the grotesque INCOMPITENCE is very real! And we warned y`all, oh yes we did!

And the HYPOCRICY is beyond measure. John "No VIETNAM" Kerry banging the WAR DRUMS? FFS! It`s a MADHOUSE!!!

Barrack Hussain Obama "Nobel Peace Prize" Saying "lets invade a FOURTH NATION"!!! And the MSM just jerking him off?

@j_algebares: Well thanks bro! I did notice your opposition to my posts before, but I SWEAR I`m just trying to speak "truth to power".

Remember that? PRE-2009 "liberalism speaking" eh?

@davymid: Expect an e-mail shortly... or tomorrow... I have no idea...

@flying_itj: I tried to ignore your STUPIDITY the other day, but this is too much!
THE so-called "peace champions" of the DEMOCRAT PARTY have been SILENT as Obama proceeds with WAR after WAR after WAR. True or false?
True: Escalated the war in Afghanistan
True: Attacked Libya
True: Wants to attack Syria

WHERE IS THE "ANTI-WAR" movement? WHERE are all those "anti-war" CELEBRITIES?

Answer that? Or STFU my friend.

I have a separate suggestion of "14 Hollywood" celebuTARDS who`ve GONBE SILENT since... Obama!

Oh yeah, I should add that nowhere in this article does it claim they are now pro-war.

All it says is "The percentage of Democrats attending anti-war protests collapsed at the end of 2008, and in early 2009."

So, in your twisted little brain, someone who doesn`t attend a protest against (insert issue here) must be in favor of (insert issue here). In real life, that`s not how it works.

@pazerlenis - That`s exactly what I was going to say.

@5Cats - Dude, you`re not even trying anymore, are you? This study covers the years 2007 - 2009, the decline in Democrats participating in anti-war protests happened after Obama took office. If you recall, during the campaign Obama specifically said he would end the war in Iraq, which he did. Did you ever stop to think that maybe, after making this promise and being elected, the Dems protesting the war decided that since he`s now in office and working on the exit strategy there`s no need to go out and actively protest? Think about it for a sec, makes sense, right?

And suddenly Republicans are anti-war. It`s almost like Democrats support whatever a Democratic politician does, and Republicans support Republican politicians, regardless of the actual topic.

You know, like complete idiots.

It`s all about race.

1. Democrats say anyone who opposes Obama`s policies is a racist.

2. Democrats claim they are not racists.

Therefore,
3. Democrats cannot oppose Obama`s policies -- ever.

I`m with you SmagBoy.
I`m a liberal and I do NOT agree that we should intervene in Syria.
This whole mess is incredibly infuriating.
Our "allies" are going to bitch at us if we intervene, and bitch at us if we don`t, so either way we`re going to look bad. Personally, I think this money we`re spending on bombing the Middle East could be better spent arming our own borders and maybe helping people here in the US. *shrug*

At time of posting, after this has been live for several hours with more than 1000 views, it has a rating of 1.0. One point f*cking Zero. Literally the worst rating that it`s possible to get.

This must be a record, even for you 5Cats.

But remind us again how this doesn`t mean that it`s partisan mindless right-wing political spoon-fed crap that no-one gives a flying f*ck about. No, the lower the rating, the more you`re WINNING!

This is one of the few posts from 5Cats that I can tolerate. And sad to say that it`s true. I`m against this as well and we can`t afford another decade of war. People will die, but at least US will be clean of any war-related crime and the economy wont get messed up.

Some people on the right are against it because of Obama, yes. They say they don`t trust him to manage it well. There is also a faction that thinks the time to intervene was 2 years ago, not today. However, probably the most numerous faction is the non-interventionist faction that is just done with the Middle East. They may have totally supported the Iraq war, or they were like Ron Paul even then, but they`ve seen nation building fail, the lives and money squandered for a bunch of uncivilized ingrates.

We should only help countries that want to be helped that are grateful and that will meet us halfway in their own development. For example, South Korea, which was as poor as Kenya in 1960. But now look at it.

I can`t speak for all liberals, but, I`m definitely against any involvement in Syria, just like I was with Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan (well, after the first week once it was clear OBL had left to Pakistan). And, too, there are a lot of war protests building steam now (it takes a couple of weeks to organize the big one).

What I find interesting is the opposite of this post. The pro-intervention Conservatives. Are they against action in Syria because of Obama? Or, are they for it? I don`t know if there any consensus on any side of this issue?

The truth is that progressives love war, but somehow have gotten away with a "pro-peace" label. How come all of our biggest Progressives have been among the biggest warmongers?

Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ. And yes, FDR should be there. Anyone who desires war so badly because they actually think war ends depressions is a warmonger. I suppose in the sense that your entire competition is destroyed - Germany, Japan, France, the UK - and you`re the main country left to produce things.

Is it a coincidence that Hollande is the only guy to support us in Syria?
