My maintenance guy was in the office while this video played and that began a lecture/discussion on how the bible defined marriage so the discussion is over. This led to how the bible has never been proven wrong, and scientists have proven Triceratops pulled the royal chariots for Chinese emperors.

FACE PALM - How can you even talk to people that brainwashed?

It`s like I always say, these religious nut jobs cherry pick to suit their argument. Not only do I not believe anyone follows the bible word for word, I don`t think it`s even possible because of the contradictions.

I think anyone with a sound grasp of reality would support the idea of same sex marriage. There isn`t a single valid argument against it.

Nice, sensible speech. I actually don`t know many people who are anti- equality. However, I come from a country where very few are terribly religious- and if they are they keep quite quiet as it is embarrassing to discuss such matters. Damn good job really...

I especially liked the PM`s rebuttal to the Biblical definition argument. I love how civil everyone was, how respectfully everyone treated one another. Very nice. :-)

    `special` =/= `equal`

Equal treatment for tax paying, consenting adults is not some sort of mercenary idea. It`s the right and decent thing.

I curious about the "born gay" part from a science point of view. I mean some of it has to be nurture, or is really all just biochemistry? Nurture is very difficult to quantize so we probably won`t know for a while.

I think very few gay people are born gay and have no choice in the matter whether they can live a reasonably happy life as a straight person.

That said, it`s nobody`s business what anyone decides is there orientation and legislation should support and fulfil the needs of society as long as those needs do not impinge on other people`s liberties.

The bible doesn`t come in to it, because all religions are false.

    .... continued re Gerry`s comment.

The retarded logic required of the religious is so twisted and demands such closed minded attitudes that only the gullible, uneducated, morally corrupt, or mentally infirm can wholeheartedly accept it. It is not fair to burden the intellectually handicapped with our governance.

If the religious can`t stay out of our rectums*, then maybe promotion of religion should be made illegal; kind of like Russia`s attitude to homosexuality. i.e. "You can bugger yourself in the privacy of your own head, but try to stick your Jesus down somebody else`s throat and we send you to the gulag."

*Rectums or Recta? Nominative plural of Bellum is Bella.

Your statement shows just how ignorant you are on this topic.

The PURPOSE of legal government recongition of gay marriage is NOT for the warm fuzzies that come with it BUT because of the following, and bare in mind this is not an exchaustive list

    1. TAXES - married couples get huge tax breaks for just being married...so yea gay people might like to have a part in that.

    2. Transfer of property - yea well turns out when you are married your poo goes to your spouse in the case of your demise but if you are not married, well it doesn`t. Get the pic???

    3. Hospital visits and medical decsion can only be made by the patient OR their spouse if the patient cannot make the decsion for themselves...otherwise it falls to their next of kin.

    4. Last will and testment - even if a gay person names their partner in their will as the benificary their family can still fight it and often they win.

    So please, educate yourself on

Your religious beliefs should remain just that, YOURS and you should not seek to make laws that effect others based on your beliefs.`

Jesus never said you would go to hell for not forcing others to live by your religious beliefs...remember that next time you try to use Jesus to support your bigotry
