Yeah, I was happy they brought back Q and Moneypenny in the last one but ... okay, wtf. Q is now just a dweeb hacker with a laptop? Aw drat that. "James Bond" + "gadgets" ... these terms have never been mutually exclusive. It`s one of THE things that make Bond Bond. Name `em - gun barrel opening and 007 theme, teaser scene, elaborate opening video with hit music artist of that era, bond girls, cars, GADGETS ... hellooooo.

Don`t get me started on Craig`s Bond. It`s a character named "Bond" but it`s not 007. None of the classic Bond elements are there. Just chase and explosions, which you can get in any action movie.

He`s blond. James Blond.

"Q" Branch with Connery was straight up cool.
"Q" Branch with Moore was Ingeniously fun.
"Q" branch with Brosnan was just plain stupid.
I`m not really sure there is a "Q" Branch with Craig.

I`m a life-long Bond fan and while I`d always dissed Lazenby as the worst Bond ... naw, going back and watching his one movie (On Her Majesty`s Secret Service), he was actually quite likeable, a good fighter ... I think his only flaw was he didn`t stand out as the star like the other Bonds. He had the face of a co-star, not THE star. I liked him though. Dalton I also grew to like more as years went by. Craig presently rate last but Skyfall was a huge and important step in the right direction of saving the franchise. [imo]

Taylor don`t worry . . . it`s in development. Who knows the percentage of movies that make it out of that.

Boring to agree with almost everyone, but I`ve never paid to see a Bond film since Connery left.
Only watched on TV if nothing else on.
Example of greatness: Dr No, book and film. No sends him a basket of fruit with a tarantula concealed in it. Great suspense until Bond kills it, then he goes into the toilet and throws up. You hear it in the film - would Moore, Brosnan, whoever do that?
I`m sorry to hear Gerry 1 of 1 `s comments, I thought Craig might have restored some "edge" to the role. (No, I haven`t seen any of the Craig ones.)

Absolutely... Connery is top bill... My second would be a tie between Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, but thats personal opinion.

I think we are ALL in agreement- Bond was not a nice man... but he had a certain something.. Connery was cold enough.

Nail on head
I think with the new Bond - they are thinking way too much about the character and his flaws
back off and re - Connery it

Daniel Craig is the worst Bond ever.
No women with stupid names.
No secret gadgets.
No double entendre quips when he kills a guy.

It was good action/adventure.... but it wasn`t "Bond". I don`t care if he does look good naked.

Actually, Jake, the first actor to play Bond on screen was Barry Nelson on October 21st, 1954 in "Casino Royale".

Then Bob Holness played Bond in the 1956 adaptation of "Moonraker" produced in South Africa.

In 1962 Bob Simmons was hired to play Bond in "Dr. No" and it his his silhouette that we see in the gunbarrel of the classic opening sequence [that was used all the way through "Goldfinger].
He was, however, replaced early on with Sean Connery.

The role went on to be played by David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Christopher Cazenove, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and now, Daniel Craig.

The Craig version of Bond is by far the most realistic take on what Ian Flemming originally intended, even more so than Connery`s version, IMO.

I concur with the below fine comments
Bond is Connery - and Connery is Bond

Jake: You are so right! I read the first Bond novels and Connery *was* the man Fleming wrote of. The first movies followed the books` plots, too, before reinventing themselves as over-the-top stunt fests. You can`t argue with success, but I kinda wish the original approach had carried on.

Others can play Bond. Connery IS bond.
Just as Chris Pine can play Kirk, Shatner IS Kirk.
Tim Curry IS Frank n Furter and ? in the remake? we shall see...

Sean Connery IS Bond-- and not just because he was the first. If you`re familiar with the original Ian Fleming books, Connery looks and acts as though he stepped right out from those pages.
