    @tedgp

The `shutdown` part about `government shutdown` is really just an exaggeration. Some functions will cease temporarily but not the whole thing.

@tedgp: READ and LEARN! I`ve submitted this, I hope it gets posted because MANY IABers have NO clue!

The "Gov`t Shutdown" has happened almost 20 times! Carter had 6!!! And he had a Democrat House ffs... it`s not the end of the world, Mr.Chickenlittle...

Meanwhile, the US Constitution hangs in the balance, again, and no one benefits if rights are eroded... except the Uber-Rich of course.

"Some functions will cease temporarily but not the whole thing."

Yup, we`ve been through this government shutdown scare several times already and been told all sorts of exaggerated nonsense about how it would end up killing people, etc.

I believe one of the latest was that FDA meat inspectors would cease to work and that it would end up poisoning people. Which is a load of complete horsesh|t. No meat packing company, in their right mind, would risk loosing their license by allowing bad meat into the marketplace.

@handimanner: Did you read the article? BOTH are threatened by the US Federal Gov`t. Under the 10th Amendment challenges.

    Get it?

If the Feds are "allowed" to overturn State Rights on Guns? It ALSO does so for POT!
You should be CHEERING for the 2nd Amendment to over-ride the 10th! It`s what protects "legal pot" on a State level too...

Either States HAVE Rights or the Feds Dictate the "rights" they are `allowed`...

If that were only true. How naive, CrakrJak, how naive.

In the last 30 days alone, the FDA has issued 28 separate recalls for tainted food items alone.

But no company who`s only purpose for existing is to generate profit would *ever* risk allowing bad food into the marketplace, right Pinhead?

Not according to the FDA`s own website. There have been only 15 recalls, of which 11 were for "undeclared" ingredients such as milk or soy. Only 2 products were recalled for "Listeria monocytogenes".

Next time, don`t make up BS stats on the fly.
Go to the source, click the food tab ---> FDA food recalls

CJ So your point is that he was off by 2? I still stand by his point of business`s don`t always operate ethically or in the best interest of the greater good. They exist much like people for its own self preservation first. We`ve had a long and storied history about Corporations that undermine the law or lack of enforcement when they can get away with it. Heck it still happens today (see big banks).

normalfreak: "CJ So your point is that he was off by 2?"

You have trouble with math don`t you?

2 is a hell of a lot less than 28.

"I still stand by his point of business`s don`t always operate ethically or in the best interest of the greater good."

Be that as it may, they don`t put their whole business at risk for the sake of cutting costs a few pennies.

As you said, "They exist much like people for its own self preservation first.", and they aren`t going to take stupid risks for little reward.
