Take everything he has, and will have, and give it to the victim`s family. Then ban him from driving for life. He did much worse to an innocent person when he selfishly decided that his night of drunken fun was more important than the lives of others. Screw him.

To drink and drive is idiocy, prison is pointless however, stripping him of the right to drive for life would be much more effective in my opinion.

He goes to court today and faces a maximum 8 year sentence. His video has over a million hits on youtube, but you can`t profit from a crime so his victim`s family should get that money.

I`m with Gerry on this, he`s seeking sympathy.

He`s a killer, not getting any sympathy from me.

People can have more than one motivation, and I don`t expect the guy wouldn`t try to save his own ass... still, it`s a good message given its best chance in being delivered by the irresponsible drat who took someone else`s life.

Awfully slick production value for a quick confession video.

I could almost pretend to believe his sympathy, if it weren`t for the `inspirational music` blaring in the background.

If he wants to plead guilty why make the video? Only motive I can think of is to try gain some sympathy. Or maybe he`ll get 1 million you tube hits and earn some money for his defense fund?

@Gerry- And I thought I was cynical!

seriously though, the gesture itself is touching, no matter what the ulterior motives may or may not be.

Obvious ploy to garner sympathy.
He thinks the judge or jury will see this and think he is "willy willy sowwy" and give him a light sentence.

Might work.

"I`m willing to take that sentence..." I hear him say. Huh, no matter what he says he`s gonna plead, if he did it he DESERVES his sentence!! (and he`ll probably get it too). Pleading guilty should not reduce his sentence; good behaviour and admittance that he did something wrong should only give him some leeway AFTER the entirety of his sentence has passed.

Nice close-ups of probably the only scars the accident left him. Weak-ass attempt to get clemency. drat him.

Drunk driving is so ubiquitous among my peers, especially during college, it was disgusting.

Too long, didn`t watch the whole thing. Basically, he killed a guy while drinking and driving. He should get the 8 1/2 years in jail. MADD can get a free video out of it.
