    A dog post -- bravo!

That first one, with the dog helping to pull the car out of a ditch, is classic.

You know what, dogs ARE awesome. My brother-in-law used to have this dog, Abby, she was the best dog ever. It`s a long story, but that dog saved me at a time in my life when I was very lonely and deeply depressed. Though he had had her for several years by the time I met her, she quickly became *my* dog. She was one of the best friends I ever had. I miss her still, almost 16 years later.

Dogs are cool! Not as cool as cats perhaps... but they`re OK ;-)

But of course dogs are awesome! They live with humans from millennia and they did`nt have decided yet to get rid of us! They have the patience of an angel.

When Usagi hit, I missed my little girl so much, she was such a chicken. Ran to me and sat on my chest when it thundered.
Iused to hug her and laugh at her scared little butt.
Felt alone and a little scared that night :-( my sweet little dog used to make me feel stronger than I am.

Yes- my poor bugger is the sweetest thing on paws, so needy it hurts. Unless you are another dog- one that makes a noise- then he will try to kill you.. I am a nervous wreck- bloody small dogs are EVERYWHERE... we `think` he was used to fight...

Smart dogs are awesome, stupid dogs are stupid.

I had to keep a friend`s dog for like a week. She never recognized me, even if i spent most of the day in the house, and she kept on barking everytime we met in the living room. I`m patient with scared animals, but this one was just too stupid...

"she kept on barking everytime we met"
I have an associate with a dog like that. I speculate she may not have the usual sense of smell.

when i moved in with my ex, i had two older dogs and he had an ancient schaunzer named wally, who was blind and deaf, with bad hips. i was afraid that mine would bully little wally. but instead, from absolutely Day One they acted as his protectors, guiding him up and down the porch steps, alerting me when wally got turned around and "lost" in the yard, etc. wally and fred (one of mine) have since gone to heaven, but i`ll always remember how wonderfully they all got along... i really miss them both...

@sleepyhollow. i too prefer dogs to people.

Someone, about 4 years ago abandoned a dog in front of our house, and we have since adopted him (well he adopted us). Because he didn`t have a home and because he didn`t have any place to call home I named him Wayward, after the song Wayward Wind.

We have two smaller dogs, both of whom were on their way to a shelter before we took them in. One is now 16 and a half, has gone deaf and mostly blind but still acts like a puppy and loves to play. The other is such an oddball; he has one toy that he has long since ripped the stuffing out of but if you step on it and make it squeak, he will come running from anywhere in the house to snatch it.

    I love them both dearly.
