Really Texas? Captain Underpants? I bet Dr. Seuss is all over the long list.

These are banned in schools - not general public circulation yes? I don`t see too much of a problem with that if the child can still read the book out of school. If they are banned from the general public, that`s not so good..

Evil Eye - literature nudity is the graphic description of the nudity.
The colorful and indepth description of "the veins on his massive
cock" for example. Or detailed descriptions of her vagina etc.

You know what I mean, it`s not what you want 15 year olds reading in school. They should sneak it off the mom`s bedside table like normal kids.

All of these were banned for sex or profanity.

They shouldn`t be in public school if they have that.

What`s the problem? There are no Bibles either.

@Gerry1of1: That has sex, lots of it and with kink stuff. Nudity is not sex, it is just not wearing clothing... something that isn`t really shocking in text (omg the word boobs!).

a book like `50 Shades Of Grey` ?
Yeah, I`m okay with that. I don`t think that`s appropriate for kids.

Wait... you can ban a book (without pictures) for nudity?

"As she got dressed the mirror caught her eye. Frowning at the reflection, she hated the flaws in her body." - Too hot for Texas!

The ones that were challenged or banned in Texas end at `Paintings from the Cave`. The rest are nationwide from 2012. Also, these weren`t banned statewide. Each school district deems what should or shouldn`t be put in school libraries. A book in one 5th or 6th grade library may not have a certain book that another school district may have. It`s just like blue laws.

Not really a story, is it? Some books are moved up a couple of grades, a few are `banne`d but only from the odd elementary school which chooses not to use them.

If a state education board actually banned `the Lottery` from being taught in schools I would be suitably aghast. But it was one middle school and it made the news.

Being Texas, I`m not surprised it isn`t worse.

It`s not hard to figure out why 50 Shades Of Grey is banned. None of those books are text books, nor are they classics that might be assigned in a literature class.

So entertainment reading can be done at home. Move on, no story here.
