Andrew155: To be fair, a majority (50-70% depending on the source) of the power produced in Scandinavia is hydroelectric and as such has little impact on the environment (compare to 37% coal and 30% natural gas in the US), and if you`ve ever been in an icelandic winter you`d not begrudge them anything.

@bangolegs

Of course I picked what I wanted. I picked specific examples. It`s a prime example of alot of @drawman`s postings as of late. Cherry pick a point, don`t bother to look up facts and proclaim it to be truth.

What I showed is that people should not make wacky assumptions on an entire country without sitting back and taking a good long look at their own. But that`s what a vast majority of the `peans on this site love to do for the troll factor.

"Do I contradict myself/
Very well then I contradict myself
(I am large, I contain multitudes).
As a bit of an Americaphile, I love this sort of thing - even if it is bollox in part. But how about 338 out of 853 Nobel Prize Laureates - don`t often hear that one.

I drink all of my wine while driving my Ford Excursion SUV 500 miles each weekend to my 6000 square foot vacation home in the mountains. I need the room for my 2 teenage daughters and their 8 babies. The house has extra outlets to charge their iphones.

@banjolegs: This whole post is cherry picked parts people want to use to make a point, @djwajda`s points just don`t fit your bash America banter. And his sources source is the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute which is internationally recognized as impartial and valid.

@djwada and if you actually look at the site you quote, you`ll realise that their figures have typos and that you are also cherry picking the parts you want to use to make a point. Have a look at the source they used, www.unodc.orgthere are links found in the comments. the datasets are incomplete in many areas and are simply being quoted incorrectly.

`facts` and `reason` and drawman61 do not belong in the same posting.

Maybe try delving into more than just a general statistic and you might find for example that the UK has....

136% more assault victims than the US

326 times the drug offenses

125% more rape

And in all 25% more total crime victims

Actual statistics, not pretty graphics.

And more people in other countries want to come to America more than any other nation. People abroad still buy the American dream.

Most dogs and cats?
Most rich people?
Hardest workers?
Most production of money per worker?
Most devices?
Most roller coasters?
Most crowdfunding?

Despite the several incorrect statements that I see @Andrew155 has already pointed out. How are half of these things bad?

Comparing a 330 million population to a 30 million population is best done on a "per capita" basis, yes? Not what`s been done here (for the most part).

Plastic surgery.

I mean, I think people forget Asia is in the world especially. Usually when people say "rest of the world" in relation to America, they mean "a select few countries in Northwestern Europe". It`s kind of revealing.

I also think they`d have a hernia if they knew Norway isn`t far behind America in Coke consumption.

Also - who owns an SUV in 2013? Was this written in 2003?

Aside from the fact that one of these has to be posted on every internet site once per week, it`s like people don`t care about fact checking.

Here`s the wine one: Wrong.

Scandinavia, the source of all Progressive erections, consumes more energy per person.
