Man! That`s some hard hitting reporting. Blew the lid right off it!

So glad I don`t pay for TV.

I guess this explains why the glasses I like are hard to find: Serengeti, Dillon Optics, etc. Now I realise why the so called `branded` / fashion sunglasses are more about splashing a brand identity across your face like a Versace bukkake than a real fashion statement.

if you don`t fall into the trap of buying designer crap then glasses should be less than 50GBP.

"Feel free to google "Japanese Americans 1942"."

Are you japanese? Is this 1942? Are we at war?

I say you are basically free to do whatever you want and your retort is Japanese internment 70 years ago? Good job. You got me.

@HolyGod

Freedom is an illusion.
Feel free to google "Japanese Americans 1942".
You`re only as free as the next guy up the ladder says you are.
I bet all the folks in Boston felt real "free" when they were detained in their homes so the police/military could lock down the city to find 2 guys.

Pinkminx: I hear you, my eyesight is so bad that the old glass lenses wouldn`t work for me. An optometrist told me when I was 8 yrs. old that 20 years before then I`d be considered legally blind.

My first pair of polycarbonate lenses cost over $600. The second pair, 10 years later, cost $300. I hear now that they cost about $100 or less now.

But the price of the frames have become ridiculous lately.

HG: "Great post crakr."

Wow, I`m stunned, a compliment from HG.

Hehe :-)

It`s not so much that my frames cost a lot. My lenses are what kill my wallet... I am a very reliant on my glasses, I see blobbed shapes without them and they run together... I can`t make out any detail at all... I hate to say it, but I cant even tell a man or a woman apart without my glasses...I have very poor eyesight..

This is why I was so excited when I found out the VA gives you one pair of glasses free (no copay, no exam fee, nothing, 100% free) every year. Even the "cheap" frames & lenses are ridiculously expensive.

"The illusion of freedom will continue"

That is such bulls.hit. What are you not free to do right now that you`d like to do? Heroin and a hooker? Outside of that?

Isn`t everything an illusion
“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it`s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

I knew about sunglass hut and all their luxury brands being made by one company but I had never heard about Oakley, Ray Ban, and Lenscrafters.

That is f.ucking shocking.

Great post crakr.

This is a good report.

They own sunglass hut and everything in it.

They have essentially done to glasses what DeBeers did to diamonds.
