I wonder which schools will start classes on internet fact culture. It won`t be about if they are true or not but about when the "fact" gets so big that no one cares if it`s true or false. They just don`t want to be wrong compared to everyone else. Not that they`d do a class about this. Since they only do classes dealing with current pop culture that are actually interesting. More like I can haz Moral Doctoren How I can haz cheeseburger and LoLcats teach morality an in depth study. And it won`t be pics of lolcats just sixty pages of typed descriptions. College: making anything fun boring because you paid in advance.

I know a Histories Professor. I believe his view is, the class has a syllabus which includes textbooks, if you use anything not from the approved materials you will be marked down.

"gmail was originally a mail service for garfield.com which was bought by Google."

No, Google bought the domain name, they didn`t buy the service.

The idea that vikings had "horns" on their helmets arose from the fact that they used to wear caps similar to these while they were relaxing in camp after a battle.

Some prat leader of an English teachers` union recently said that history teaching doesn`t have to include facts any more ("they`re for pub
quizzes"),because children can just Google stuff.
So Viking helmets. Recently here we`ve had
(1) Only invented for Wagner`s "Ring" in the 19th century.
(2) Ceremonial use only.
(3) Totally false.
I have seen horned helmets in museums, so 1 and 3 are out, and I think Thonius has probably called
it right, but who`d be a kid today? Who`d be a history teacher trying to adjudicate between truth and nonsense online?

In fact, Vikings did sometimes wear helmets with horns for ceremonial reasons. Never in battle because the horns are a convenient hand-hold for an enemy who wants to slit your throat.
