It`s almost like religion has EVOLVED, and only the most successful (fittest) have survived.

    Weird how that works.

If God made me He made a serious error.
He put me in a poor life. I`m supposed to be in a rich life.

Ya know I was never a `devout` religious person but I always did believe there was a god.

But then I began to question how a god who is supposedly so good and takes care of us can strike so many children like my daughter with the severe form of autism she happens to have, along with all the other crap innocent children are born with.

All the praying in the world is never going to have my daughter be able to talk to me so I call BS on religion these days.

That being said, outside of the wackos like westboro and the like I respect other people`s choice to believe.

djwajda: God isn`t to blame for all the world`s troubles, mankind is at fault because of sin.

We all have crosses to bear, and I genuinely feel for you and your family. Prayer never hurts. I`m not saying it`s a cure all or that you`ll receive a miracle, but you`ll likely receive some blessing from it.

You never know, maybe a cure is just around the corner, never give up hope.

Boresome, you have got to be trolling!
If God`s word is the ultimate truth, how can all these hundreds of religions with different ideas be correct? How can the evil pedos that run these religions be living in luxurious splendour while children still starve to death or get abused? Perhaps you`re one of them.

Freedom of religion (at least for now), simple as that. And we`re all free to agree or not and if you want to trash my faith in God, well, at least enjoy yourself.

Boresome: I`m not insane. God didn`t create sin, mankind did. Death and tribulation are the wages of sin, and we are all to blame for it.

Btw, not only Christians believe this, Jews, muslims, buddhists and other religions believe this (in various tenets) as well.

Sin separates us from God and that separation is our punishment. Heartfelt prayer brings us closer to God, so that the separation isn`t as great. But as long as we live on earth we are wading in mankind`s sin.

But as far as autism is specifically concerned even neuroscientists are not sure if genetics or environment are to blame.

    @CrakrJak

Buddhists don`t believe in a fallen mankind who are reaping the "wages of sin." They view mankind as responsible for its own destiny via good or bad actions and their resulting karma. The point of Buddhism is not to get right with a god, but to make choices in life that will produce good karma. For Buddhists, mankind`s misery isn`t the result of any "original sin," but arises because of an inordinate attachment to things that will eventually pass away.

I do believe that religion is outdated and needs to be left behind but then I used to reason that the human race has other problems too. But then I realised, most of these other problems stem from religion, so I say, believe in a mysterious power if you wish but, organised religion is so obviously a human construct that you would have to be mentally lacking in some way to take religion seriously. Belief in personal god for example suggests delusion, if someone said they believed in faeries, most people would react with incredulity, make it god however and this is somehow acceptable. Nonsense really.

djwajda: You say that you questioned a God that struck innocent children down. That is not only blaming him for those problems, but judging him for them too.

It`s a matter of faith. Retaining faith in the depths of hopelessness isn`t easy, but it`s eventually rewarded.

Believing in God without having seen or felt or sensed him but relying on someone else to tell you about Him is similar to believing in evolution without having seen, felt, or experienced it, but relying on someone else to tell about it. Anyone here ever witnessed evolution? No? Sounds like the same boat to me.

RytWing: It`s called *evidence*, and if you cared to crack a book or just look it up on the net, you`d find there is absolutely no comparison between an understanding of the facts of evolution and believing the nonsense of religion. People like you keep coming up with the same idiotic statements over and over, and you all seem to think you`re the first to come up with them. Why don`t you give us the old "If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" just for old times` sake?
