I thought this one was the most telling of the polarization of America:

Which state would you like to see kicked out of America?

Liberals say Texas, Conservatives say California.

HG - Really amusing post! Not only was the link good but the recommended links were pretty damn good as well! Cali is a great place to live, visit and - if you`re not from here - leave! Yup! We`ve had an exodus of the past few years and that is easy one to show my work. As for Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana - you`re not all bad! Well, Texas is, but that`s a Californian opinion for you! Somehow I doubt that Texans are going to care what I have to say. I KEED, I KEED! There should have been a "most insecure state," Texas would have won that, too!

Nah, we`re pretty secure down here with all of our guns.

And, as a Spokesman for the Conservatives (self-declared), I do not think any state should be forcibly removed from the Union. But, they should have the right to remove themselves if they wish.

Which state is least likely to show up on any poll ever? Indiana. I`m so proud to be a Hoosier. Lol!

Invisible2U: The midwest states, in general, rarely show up as being best or worst in any sort of poll. We are in the middle and like it that way.

I agree with Minnesota for the weirdest accent.

As for arrogant, I think Texans are way more arrogant than NY`ers. The two most popular slogans you hear in TX are "everything`s bigger in TX" and "don`t mess with TX." NY is just "I love NY" and "F*ck you!" That being said, I completely agree with NY being the rudest state, NJ is probably a close second on that one.

"I think Texans are way more arrogant than NY`ers."

Yes. Having been both places, AGREED. Texans slap their state flag on everything and do everything in their power to tell you they are from Texas.

Not to mention a New Yorker`s pride is centered around them having the largest city in the country, the most diverse city, the most historically significant city, the financial center of the universe, the highest concentration of wealth in the country, the highest concentration of business centers, leaders, etc.

Meanwhile, a Texan`s sense of pride seems to be the size of their state? I guess?

My husband is from Texas ( Lord knows I love him) but when he goes on a stupid Texas rant...For some strange reason I am strongly compelled to hurl my shoes at him...I don`t do it, but I really want to. So I can see how Texans could lean more on the arrogant side..

Texan Pride comes from the history of the state. The fact that, prior to becoming a state, we battled Mexico for our independence. That we are the only state to join the Union by treaty, not annexation.

Country music has two distinct forms, Nashville and Texas. Its in our history, and in our culture.

"Don`t mess with Texas" is a slogan about littering.

"That we are the only state to join the Union by treaty, not annexation."

Maybe that`s what they teach all you Texans in school but that`s not true. An "annexation treaty" was drawn up but failed and Texas was then annexed into the US by joint resolution in 1845.

LOL! Texans` reply with insecurity. Perfect! Love you guys - not. Feel free to leave the union and become a third world plantation that ultimately gets sanctions leveled for bringing back slavery! We should trade you to Mexico for Baja! Win-win-(White Texans aka `Merikkkans)Lose! Seriously, if you hate this country so much, move! We aren`t going to adopt your racist BS just because you`re fat, loud and think waving a flag makes you entitled to this land. WHYUMADBRO? Because the rest of us can actually speak English while you use it as a cheap excuse to deport people that work harder than you? Yup! DEPORT DEPORT DEPORT - LAZY REDNECKS!!!!..to... I don`t know...Mars? A volcano? The Middle East? Actually, that works! Our Rednecks are fundamentally in line with the Taliban. It`s hot as poo over there and they seem to have abandoned education for oppression in the name of religion. Sounds like a win. DEPORT rednecks to the Middle East!

There are a few obvious mistakes here. California is represented way too well. Since when does California have better scenery than Washington? NEVER, that`s when.

And HOW IN HELL DID FLORIDA NOT GET CHOSEN AS THE WORST, STUPIDEST, MOST LIKELY TO BE KICKED OUT!!!

whodat: Actually, per your own link by the way, the Mexican-American War began after the annexation and it was by post-war treaty that Texas` western boundaries were defined.

I have spent a ton of time in california and washington. Seattle is my favorite place in the country.

However, as much as I like washington`s scenery, california has it beat in range. You have the coastal areas of southern califiornia all the way up to northern california which looks a lot like washington in a lot of ways.

@CrakrJak - Yes, but the point is that Texas was acquired through annexation. @JadesDitoyr said Texas wasn`t acquired through annexation, which is not true. They were annexed by the US with no defined western border, which was disputed with Mexico.

I thought I-A-Bers were always saying Florida was the dumbest. And as an outsider, I think those deep south redneck accents are the worst.

Looking at this you`d think it`s all just a battle between the coasts, in which case do we get to pick our favorite coast? Cause then I`m going with the East coast....But then again I would like to see the Pacific Northwest someday. Land of "Fraiser", Grunge rock and Geoduck, heck in a lot of ways they practically created `90s culture. Oh and they have giant sequoias too!

Just a humble opinion from no coast USA.

I went to Boston MA once. I stood outside my youth hostel having a fag (smoke for you Yanks). The lady next to me asked me where I lived. I told her (accurately), Germany.

"Hmm", she said. "I had no idea the German accent is so like the British one" <Facepalm moment>. "What`s Germany famous for?"

So ignoring a guy called Adolf and 8 years in the middle of the 20th century, I explained the no speed limit autobahns. "So you can do 90 past a cop no problem?" "Ma`am", I said, "if you`ve got the wheels, you can do 190 past them". "Wow, I gotta see that!" she exclaimed.

"... anything else it`s famous for?" she added. So I carefully explained the world famous beer. "We have budweiser over here. It`s real nice, have you tried it?" I explained I had not. <Facepalm>

I`m being mean to you Yanks of course. You have to make allowances, she was fro
