@paperduck: lolz! You got it!
It should be:
White people = pink
Blacks = black
Asians = yellow
Latino = brown
others = red

@Gerry1: It takes 20 people to "make a dot" and they have to live in the same area. The dots are then displayed randomly within their "boundry" so as to not pinpoint individual houses (which might be illegal to do!).

I love the Big Map (linked below) it`s fun!

In order not to upset anyone, here`s what they did:

White people are blue, black people are green, Brown people are orange, Yellow people are red, and other races are brown.

I zoomed in on my town, San Diego. According to this map there are no black people living here. I can attest that that is not the case.

But the asians in Mira Mesa area {called Asia Mesa} and the latinos in National City {big orange blob} are accurate.

I looked at Chicago: I had no idea there were so many Hispanics living there!
The WORST segregation is in the "non-white" areas. To me this means whites simply don`t want to live there, as opposed to whites "keeping coloured people OUT" of so called "white neighborhoods.

I do not doubt that went on! Especially pre 1970`s! But now-a-days it`s "coloured folks" keeping OTHERS out, because everyone`s a bigot!

@drawman61
sadly I have to agree
many immigrants have taken over streets, then spread, the poor blighty chap see`s his house value plummet because of said spread, and immigrant buys it, ergo continues

"So "segregation" is not always because they are downtrodden. Sometimes it`s because they want it that way."

Totally agree. I`ve always found it ironic that minorities fought so hard for desegregation, in the 60`s, and yet they segregate themselves on purpose even when it would be in their best interests (safety, jobs, educational opportunity) to integrate.

And that`s another problem with immigration, UK style. The locals are told to be open minded and welcoming. Then they allow these same immigrants to set up their own ghettos.

Not as easy to read as it should have been.
And I am not welcome in National City. The latino`s would make my life hell until I moved. So "segregation" is not always because they are downtrodden. Sometimes it`s because they want it that way.

Nickel- my town would be blue with twenty other coloured dots- when my brother in law turned up about 10 years ago my then young daughter was amazed- she had never seen a black man before.. quite scarey!

There is an exceedingly high correlation between the greens and KFC, but it`s astronomical when it comes to the greens and Church`s Chicken.

Is there a correlation between the green areas and KFCs? This would be an awesome map if it were interactive and linked to Yelp/Google!

That is me in the NW part of the country. I am waving and wearing a purplish-blue tee shirt.

It`s really no newsflash that people tend to live with other people from the same culture or ethnic group, even when there are no laws forbidding it.

"Washington and Baltimore’s low levels of integration are actually visible from a great distance"

Lol it true, everyone to the left of my house is white, my next door neighbor to my left is white, then a mixed couple, then everyone is black to the left. It`s getting better though, there is no racial tension, everyone gets along and we go over each others houses. But most people have lived in their houses from the 60`s and 70`s and you can see it still.
