Estonia and Latvia have a flat tax of about 20-25% and they still manage to have low inequality. They did mega austerity at the beginning of the crisis and now they`re some of the only viable economies in the EU. Estonia is possibly the only Eurozone country qualified to be in the currency and Latvia is growing at 6%.

Corps & Medical attention.. they get health care. What do you call the freakin` bail outs when a company is dieing?

The Repubicans call it a flat tax as a sales pitch. But it has lots of tax deductions in it for the rich so it`s not a flat tax by definition, just by name. Don`t change your content, change your label - that`s american politics.

@Gerry1of1

Maybe I`m not getting memos from the Republican Party anymore, which is weird `cause we love cutting down trees, but my cabal is pushing for a flat tax.

I know that I`ve been advocating it for the last ten years or so. (I was a modern day Alex P. Keaton at the time. Now I`m too old to be him...)

Gerry I think that`s where we have a misconception. Corporations are NOT people. They need to be taxed as a corporation and there needs to be separate rules for them.

Flat tax - it`s the only truley equitable way.
Democrats say it burdens the poor who would more.
Republicans say it burdens the rich who would pay more.
Corporations don`t like it because they loose all tax breaks, but if they`re people then they can pay like the rest of us.

I work with people who do the same work and earn the same amount. But they don`t pay much tax because they were stupid and had 6 children. So I have to pay more because they can`t figure out how a condom works. You bought a house-good for you. I choose not to use my money that way so where is my tax credit for not-buying a house at an inflated price and outrageous interest rate?

I could go on and on but you get my point.
