This is why I get nauseous every time the parade one of those "Hero Cops` on tv because they did their job right for a change. Mostly, this is what you get. I`m not litigious, but sue the sheriff`s office and sue the cops individually. They are on some kind of power trip if they think they can treat people this way.

    "Police! Open the door!"
"Ok. Oh hey, this is the wrong address, they`re down the street."
Problem solved. Cooperation goes a long way with cops.

@Denogginizer--when they come to your door pounding with their guns drawn, and you`ve seen headlines about people being shot for reaching into their own car, are you really going to just let them steamroll in and kill you for being in your own house? Hell, seeing how this played out the guy was totally justified for not wanting them inside.

This news story is a bit dated as it occurred on the 26th of July. The Sheriff is taking action on the officers for the abuse. Yes, the abuse!

However, in doing research on the story, they were indeed there to arrest the mother on a warrant. And while it surely doesn`t excuse the activities of these deputies there is a clear lack of how these people were acting before they decided to turn on a camera.

@Gerry, like you I too get nauseous...every time all cops are blamed and all cops are called bad. By your logic:

-All doctors are bad because some of them can`t do their job and patients die.

-All lawyers are bad because some of them are in it just for the money and don`t care about the law.

-All white people are terrible because some of them are racist. (same goes for all blacks)

Just because there are less videos of good cops doesn`t mean there aren`t any. All it means is there`s no reason to put them on video in the first place

djwajda a video from two weeks ago is dated to you? How new does something have to be to not be "dated"?

    @1234
My point is one should research a story and find out all the facts, IE that the Sheriff will be punishing the deputies, before presenting it. When a story is dated like this one it`s fairly simple to search for the complete story.

Now, most good cops don`t care about recognition. I daresay I did some good things during my career and never once did I hope to have it on video nor did I look for recognition for anything I did. But for those that seem to like to cry that all cops are bad...

This was over her not paying a fine. wow.

"According to Natania Griffin, several DeKalb County police officers came to arrest her on July 26 at 1:30 a.m., over a $1,000 civil fine that was 15 days late. She described the ensuing raid on her home as “sheer terror.”

djwajda just because they are getting punished doesnt mean people shouldn`t see what they did. And by no means does it make it right.

Do you have a link specifically for where the sheriff`s dept is punishing the offending officers? I can`t find one.

As of today no punishment has been issued and they just started the investigation. They just received the video on 8/7. Dated right?

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office has launched an internal investigation into the matter.

"We`re going to look at every officer that was involved, starting with the supervisor that was there," Brown said.

While Brown said he doesn`t know what if any disciplinary action will be taken, all officers involved will undergo sensitivity training.

Along with an internal investigation, Brown said he will also reexamine the practice for delivering low-level warrants late in the evening. "There`s an issue with that as well, dealing with a warrant at that time of day" he said.

denogginizer - It would also be easier to buy my daughter that candy bar at the store she is throwing a fit about, but I don`t because it`s rewarding bad behavior.

Cops are not allowed in the house without a warrent, or some damn good probable cause.

These cops have no right to take it personally when we exercise our rights. Making their job easier is not my concern. My concern is not going to jail and not having my rights violated.

It would have been easier for these guys to open the door. They did us all a favor. The more often people make the cops stick to the letter of the law, the less often they will be able to stretch and abuse their authority.

Been there, done that. Was part of the job to be sprayed in order to use it ya know? Of course you don`t because you, like so many, MANY others here go by what you see on youtube and other outlets instead of knowing exactly what the job entails right?

    Sheriff Vows to punish deputies

Also, I never said people didn`t need to see what happened, but that people need to know all the facts of the matter instead of being given a one sided account.

And again because I just love to repeat myself, I`ve never said all cops are good. I`m not defending the actions these deputies took by any means.

The warrant they were serving was small time and definitely did not deserve a 1:30 am door beating. On the same token though they simply should have answered the door, spoken with the deputies and let the warrant be served in the first place.

The cops and the news report state that the family were afraid of being crime victims, but that it was apparent that those beating on the door in the dead of night were cops; Yeah, they were afraid they`d be crime victims at the hands of the cops- and they were.
These cops acted no better than thugs and gang members.
The sheriff stated in on e report that he doesn`t tolerate B.S.- but his deputies did not threaten the family members, yet they`re threats are readily apparent on the audio portion of the vid.
All for a civil warrant; Imagine if they`d been there to serve a warrant for oh, say, parking violations- or some other crime that would make pussies fear for their safety...

Xprez: First off serving an arrest for warrant for a civil fine, which is a misdemeanor at best, in the middle of the night, is a real load of horse crap. These cops didn`t show an arrest warrant and would not say why they were there.

Now beyond that, it`s illegal to serve misdemeanor warrants after 10pm or before 6am and cannot enter a residence for ONLY a misdemeanor arrest warrant. There are only a few special exemptions to this rule and the judge must spell them out in the warrant.

Since this arrest was an illegal nighttime arrest, the mother has a very good chance of having all charges dismissed and has an actionable case against the sheriff`s office.

CaptKangaroo: "These cops acted no better than thugs and gang members."

Correct you are, and they need immediate re-training or termination.

    You are 100% correct, CrakrJak.

I worked for the Sheriff`s Department for 9 years and it is EXACTLY for the reason illustrated in this video that I left and it is EXACTLY for the reason illustrated in this video that I ucking HATE police.

I *KNOW* what the police do and how they think and the vast majority of them deserve nothing more than to be shot on sight.

I had a schitt load of cops pounding on my door once (6 patrol cars and 10 uniformed officers) because of a neighbor reported me for filming porn in my house .
They demanding to be let in.
I told them to uck off.

The Sergent got REALLY PO`d and said he was coming back with a warrant and kick the door down.
I told him if he came back with a warrant he wouldn`t need to kick the door down, I`d let him in, but until then he could uck off.

Jesus, he was issed but they all left and never did come back.

Got a nice little one column article on it in AVN.

I can remember ever since I was a little kid always trying to be as nice to police officers as I could. Hell, only a couple years ago I was at a McDonald`s and noticed I was sitting across from a table of like 5-6 officers. I went over and chatted it up a bit with them, thanking them for their service and telling them I appreciate what they do. They just kinda blew me off.

I`ve only had a few run-ins with cops as a motorist, and each and every time they all seem more concerned about making money than my safety or the safety of those around me.

I guess you could say it all came to a head when I found my friend (who is probably the most defensive driver in the world; he never runs a yellow light, always signals, comes to COMPLETE stops at every stop sign even in the dead of night, and rarely goes over the limit, ever) got pulled over and ticketed on the highway going 117kph in a 110kph zone. For the record, I`ve seen people drive 130 past cops on that highway and they n

"there`s consequences and repercussions behind everything you do"

What do they know? Those sorry excuses for peace officers live their lives in a "thin blue line" culture that protects them from the consequences and repercussions of all their own actions.

btw: that one officer sounds like an Eddie Murphy caricature of an ignorant black sheriff, doesn`t he?
