Obamacare isn`t about fixing the healthcare system. If it was it wouldn`t take over 18,000 pages to explain all of the 2500+ pages of the actual law.

It`s all part of Saul Alinsky`s "Rules for Radicals" plan to overthrow government from the inside and break our democracy to the point of forcing socialism upon us.

We are going over the cliff, 17 trillion dollars of debt, 44 trillion dollars of unfunded liability in social security, disability and welfare.

It`s possible that even our grandchildren`s children will still be paying off these bills.

nubblins, war costs money, yes. But the whole Iraq war, a grandiose waste, was the same price as Obama`s one-time stimulus, another big waste.

But military spending as a % of GDP is actually lower than it`s been at nearly any other time in modern US history. It`s below 5% now, you would`ve hated JFK. JFK`s military was at 10% of GDP. Jimmy Carter`s was at 6%. And back then, it discretionary spending consisted almost exclusively of military.

    I wonder what changed?

I wish we could have a short concise reason as to what changed Andrew. I can only think of a few things. Greed happened. The wealthy aren`t paying back into the system. Everything revolves around money. We keep hearing about trickle down, what`s trickling down? Profits are all time highs for banks and oil yet where is that money being repatriated? I don`t see it being used to better humanity so. That`s probably one of many problems cause I`m sure it`s not just ONE issue.

    Greed happened
I`m sorry, but this is hardly an explanation. Greed is a constant; it always is, has been, and will be.

If an abnormally high number of planes fall out of the sky next year, will we then blame gravity? Will we hold meetings and have discussions on how to fix the rampant gravity? I doubt it.

The problem isn`t greed, it`s incentives. Regulations and programs have changed that incentivize greedy behaviors. The entire housing market collapse occurred because a variety of programs incentivized subprime lending and subprime borrowing.

Andrew, I`m not pointing out because of some underlying want to be partisan, I`m just stating a fact.
I tire of partisan people. Everything is the other guys fault--whether it`s Democrats or Republicans, or black and white. What has this nation become? Nothing but bunch of squabbling, blaming, spoiled fatties. Greed runs this country, not humanity. I don`t see how the cost of war (money, lives, our allies) can even compare to spending money on our elderly, poor and disabled. That is so backwards, I can`t even wrap my mind around it.
And the ironic part is those who have these views are predominantly CHRISTIANS? Modern man has a strange, mixed up view as to what Jesus had been preaching. Was it not Jesus who said it was easier for a camel to be thread through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven?

I don`t know, Andrew, my guess is we`ve just become too greedy.

"my guess is we`ve just become too greedy"

I think its more to do with the fact that we have seen from the "Great Society`s" domestic programs, that the very programs meant to protect the elderly, poor, and disabled only lead to disenfranchising both them and the generations that follow them.
But @HumanAction is right, Greed is a constant. I don`t see how you can say people and companies in the 1700`s, 1800`s, and 1900`s were less greedy than today.

Government is not an appropriate vehicle for solving social problems, only culture has shown to do that.

Are they actually trying to make it sound like the huge number of regulation issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission is a *Bad* thing?

Like there is no need to alter the rules that got us into economic collapse in the first place.

    FACT

People respond to incentives, but usually not in the way intended. Apply this to everything and you can begin to understand why things like Obamacare are destined for failure.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

What?! A government program is costing ridiculous amounts of money more than they said it would?!!! I`m shocked! No, Tazered! If you endlessly give people handouts they have no incentive to do anything else; and if you keep taking from the productive people the lose there will to continue to be productive. Like the old Jewish Proverb, if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day but if you teach him to fish you feed him for a lifetime. We need to teach people how to "fish".

    "Socialism is the future."

Of course, the only problem with socialism is that there`s never been anyone as smart as Obama put in charge of running everyone`s lives and businesses.

    That`s correct @OldOllie!

Lenin? Stalin? Mao? Pol Pot? They were not NEARLY as smart as Barack Husain Obama!
I mean, just LOOK at his SAT`s, his LSATs! His University Grades! His Thesis Paper(s)!!

    What?

ALL those things are SEALED COURT DOCUMENTS?

    It`s ILLEGAL to reveal them?

    Most... transparent... president... ever!!!
