I think it`s a plot to force them to pay twice to take the exam! ;-)

The article does mention that the University is really over-crowded, but is this the best method to lower enrolment??

The average IQ of black sub-Sarahan Africans is ~70, which is 2 full standard deviations below whites and Asians. In other words, the IQ of the AVERAGE African would be considered developmentally disabled in a US school, equivalent to the upper range of students with Down Syndrome.

An African with an IQ of 100 (average for whites and Asians) would be in the 98th %ile for Africans. The 98th %ile among whites is an IQ of ~132 which qualifies one for Mensa.

That being said, out of 25,000, there should be at least 25 of them in the 99.9th %ile, which should be an IQ at or above ~116. That should be enough to pass a state college entrance exam, till you consider who their teachers were. Then it all starts to makes sense. Even the smart ones never stood a chance.

This goes a long way to explain why Africans never developed a civilization on their own beyond the stone age.

    Intelligence is relevant.
Maybe they don`t know Euclidian geometry, but we don`t know how to find water in the bush country so who`s laughing and who`s dieing of thirst now?

They reversed their decision and are now admitting 1800 of the applicants.

If they come to the UK they will go straight into middle-management. Got to be fair to all races.

THat is so sad. But I applaud the university for setting tough entry standards, and the country for not trying to cover it up. Obviously, there needs to be some remedial education for the more motivated...maybe next year they can make the cut. It is a tough world out there...you have to aim pretty high to make it big

@OldOllie: It goes a long way to explain that IQ-tests are bullpoo and `civilized` countries enjoy the privilege of education.

"we don`t know how to find water in the bush country"

    1. Leave a leaf out at night and let the dew puddle in it.

    2. Lick bushy grasses for morning due or tie rags or clothing around ankles and walk threw damp vegetation then squeeze the rags for water.

    3. Find plant, dig it up, scrap the tuber, make a fist around the scrapings and point your thumb towards your mouth, squeeze out the water.

    4. Find and eat darkling beetles.

5.urinate into a container, put the container into a second container and put a peace of plastic over the top of both containers, it will use the sun to purify the water.

    6. follow elephants

    7. follow stream beds

    8. dig at least 3 feet in the direction of tree roots are stretching

    9. Dig a depression put a container in the deepest part and plastic sheet over the top, anchor it with rocks and put a small stone over the container. Due will run down and drop into

Hmmm, I smell BS. If 25000 people randomly guessed all the answers, how many questions would you need for no one to get more than 65% of the questions right? Lets say multiple choice with 4 options.... My guess, a hell of a lot more than this test had. So sounds statistically impossible to me.

@Reignblazer So, if the objective test results contradict your preconceived, politically correct, biased, and baseless conclusion, then that, to you, is proof that the test, which has proven to be accurate in millions of cases for over 100 years, is "bullpoo."

What color is the sky in your world?

Ok I did the math and would like to correct my earlier intuition. With the assumptions of 4 choice multiple test and 100 questions, the probability that 1 person out of 25k gets 65% is essentially 0. So it is possible. Also, can I get a "yay" for nerd Friday nights?

Holy pooe, this wasn`t from The Onion. So this is why some grades are based on the curve.

That`s exactly what they ended up doing in order to admit 1800 of them.

We do this as well in the US, i.e., grading blacks on a separate curve so a certain number of them are guaranteed to pass. It`s called Affirmative Action.
